The Thai food here is excellent! If you're planning to visit, it's a good idea to call ahead to check if they have service available, as this restaurant primarily does takeout. I tried the spicy noodles with shrimp at level 1, which was just the right amount of heat. I highly recommend it! View all feedback.
What philip sisk doesn't like about Lemongrass:
This place used to be great 20 years ago. I just visited this last time to go see my daughter and took her there and the pad Thai was horrible. The place looked decrepit and rundown and the owner was now the waiter instead of just being a chef, not a romantic place not a nice place I would avoid it, although I really do like the owner and she’s a sweetheart, but she needs help and this place has seen-its day. We stumbled at this place while we were in the afterbarity on a rainy, muddy day. it looks like a house, and eating tastes homemade. it's the best Thai food we've ever had. we have the thai noodles with huh (for the children milky, the yellow curry (it is spicy, and an order is salat roll. it mainly takes. if possible, they call a day in advance as she works alone and does not do much volume, but she is wonderfully beautiful and eating is amazing. it is a special experience. that's worth it.
Shelly (the cook/owner) and the food were incredible. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had. And would recommend this restaurant to everyone I can. Will definitely be back when I visit Portland again. Hours can be weird, so best to call ahead to see when she’s open. Cash only.
Super delicious; best green curry we've ever had. Attentive and kind service. Adorable location. Hurry up and order some takeout already; you know Thai food sounds good.
Whatever other Thai restaurants you’re thinking of going to in Portland, STOP and go to Lemongrass instead. Amazing food in a cozy, homey environment, and the chef/owner is a lovely human who clearly puts so much love and care into her cooking. I stumbled on Lemongrass after a disastrous (and failed) attempt to eat somewhere else, and I ended up walking nearly half a mile in pouring rain to get to Lemongrass. I walked in 30 minutes before closing, desperately hungry and wet, and didn’t realize she mostly does takeout and you’re supposed to call ahead to see if she has capacity for dine-in. She kindly welcomed me in anyway and made me a delicious plate of chicken pad Thai. And she even took the time to talk with me for a few minutes before I left. I felt so welcomed and taken care of, and I will absolutely come back the next time I’m in Portland. 10/10 recommend!
I got the green curry with veggies tofu and it was delicious! I’m actually currently eating it and couldn’t wait to write a review. I stopped over at lunch on a weekday and the owner was so cheery and helpful. She told me they are very busy on the weekends so be sure to call ahead!
