What User dislikes about The Farm:
Good food, great location and views, but a few annoying things. Sat outside and the owner (I think) kept asking my why I'm sitting outside in a strange way, had to ask for a spoon to get sugar for coffee, had to ask for all drinks to be brought out, had to ask for cutlery, I still wasn't too annoyed, but then the owner decided to go through everything that went wrong (not just a simple "sorry" and move on) while I wa... We were wandering around Willunga when we saw a sign on the side of the road - 'The Farm' - how enticing! And after visiting here for brekkie this morning,

This place is a hidden gem located off a back road from Aldinga to Willunga road.

This is a lovely little café in a beautiful setting. I have visited often over the past 2 years with Friends. Today I visited with my Husband and for the first time the place was extremely busy. No matter, we had a table for two and proceeded to order the 'deliciously described' Burgers - I had the Lentil, he had the Beef. Both were served with Wedges. The waitress was very attentive and apologised for the delay in service, but no matter. The surroundings are lovely and we enjoyed a glass of wine each. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. Firstly, the wedges were only warm and soggy as though they had been microwaved, whereas the burger buns - which I know are baked on-site - were very hard. (Size is somewhere between the usual burger sized bun and a pulled meat bun) Both Lentil pattie and Beef pattie were delicious, but everything was very dry as there was only a smear of 'beetroot mash' on the base bun, half a teaspoonful of mayo on 3 gourmet leaves, two thin tomato slices and the tiniest amount of what I think was carmelised onion below the top bun. We basically de-constructed the bun to eat it, not touching the unappetising wedges at all. Our lovely waitress checked on our meal, and we did say that we were not enjoying it for the above reasons. She said that she would mention this to the Chef. When finished, my Husband went to pay the bill, and despite being questioned at length by the owner Robyn on what the exact problems were, he was required to pay the full amount. No offer of a discounted bill and that was it. We left immediately and stopped for coffee elsewhere, where I rang The Farm to voice my disappointment in their lack of good customer service. Firstly I spoke to a girl, and asked to speak to the owner. She said the owner was busy, did I want to leave a message. I briefly stated what had happened when suddenly another person came on the phone. She was extremely brusque and when I mentioned that my Husband had just been speaking with her, stated that she was NOT the owner and that her name was Zoe. She would not listen, and continually interrupted me. Then Robyn (owner) came on and apologised for what had happened, and when I mentioned being disappointed at being charge the full amount, said that she had been going to give my Husband a bottle of wine, but couldn't find us ... ??? Well actually, we left right after the bill was paid. Why hang around? We have a Friend's 80th coming up in August and had been discussing holding the event at The Farm. I also have a girl friend who is 60 in October, and had planned to book rooms and hold her celebration at The Farm.Last weekend, whilst dining with other Friends, one of the party suggested that The Farm might be an ideal spot for her Daughters' Wedding. All of these things are now on hold. I think that the Café and surroundings are beautiful and goods on sale are well considered and original in their sourcing from local artists and producers.I am sorry, but I will not be recommending or returning to this café in future.

I highly recommend The Farm's accommodations after my delightful lunch in McLaren Vale. It's the perfect place to unwind while overlooking the olive groves and vineyards as the sun sets. The two spacious studios are luxurious, featuring large bathrooms and well-equipped kitchens, all with a private and stylish atmosphere. The on-site café serves amazing food, and their Eggs Benedict is the best I've ever had. Hosts Robyn and Michael are incredibly warm and generous. We're definitely planning to return!
