Contribute FeedbackThe Boathouse restaurant in Port Moody at Rocky Point offers a beautiful location with a stunning view, but falls short in several areas according to recent reviews. Some patrons have complained about inconsistent food quality and high prices, while others have expressed dismay over dirty bathrooms and subpar service. Despite these mixed reviews, some diners have had positive experiences with excellent food, friendly staff, and a lovely view. Overall, opinions are divided, but it seems that The Boathouse may be worth a visit for the picturesque setting and delicious menu options.
I typically go to places where I can be delighted with good food and good service. This time I got trapped by the Boathouse and it is definitely the very last time I put my foot into this establishment. We asked the front girl assigning tables if they have iced coffee with ice cream. She assured that that's an item on the menu and placed us on a seat facing the inlet.A menu was placed on our table showing us entrées and appetizers. No sign of coffee or iced coffee. After about 15 minutes waiting for someone to ask us what we want (the inside of the restaurant was basically empty and the patio had a handful of tables occupied,) we simply stood up and left.Nobody cares in this place. This is a complaint which has been brought up numerous times but it seems to be that they truly don't give a s....Why would I spend my money into a place where I am not appreciated to pay for the salaries of the employees and the profit of the owner? The short answer is: I would not.
We came here for Dine-out Vancouver earlier this year and enjoyed it so decided to return for our Wedding Anniversary. What a disappointment! After 30 min the manager (assumed as she was not in uniform nor identified herself) told me that they were out of the grilled cod that I ordered. So it took another 20 min for them to bring me a halibut dish in its place. It took 45 min for our fish tacos appetizer and 45 min for the chicken strips my niece ordered from the kids menu! Our 2 year old son was getting restless sitting for so long so I ordered a small bowl of rice for him, telling them to please bring it asap...and had to ask 3 times! And this was at 8 pm on a Wed night when the restaurant was not overly busy! The last time we've waited this long for service was at a Malaysian restaurant 2 years ago during Dine-out. But there the manager was extremely apologetic and the server incredibly amiable, so we've returned multiple and have never had a problem. Boathouse was in stark contrast. The service was so consistently bad they appeared to give up serving us anything within a reasonable time frame. It was clear that we needed to leave with 3 kids and running well past 9 pm, yet they still took 15 min to serve the ice cream pie as part of the 3 course meal, and only after I asked them to take it to go. My wife was apologetic for making such a bad selection to celebrate our Anniversary. But she shouldn't be the one to apologize. Considering the overall rating of this place, it appears the Boathouse should be doing the apologies...to a number of dissatisfied clients. For a restaurant of this caliber in North America, it's unacceptable. While the food was good and they didn't charge for my meal, it was little compensation for such pathetically bad service. I would typically tip 15% or more for a place like this; instead I left a 3% tip to send a message. Now I regret even leaving that much. It was the worst service I've experienced in over 20 years anywhere in the world!
Lunch at the Boathouse was just plain disappointing. We were left standing around, gazing at the mostly empty dining room for a full 7 minutes before being seated. What an unwelcome feeling. My husband's lunch was fine but my quinoa salad was weirdly dull and tasteless. A side plate had a blob of baked-on food from the dishwasher. Hmm. One hopes that a $60 lunch for two would be a whole lot better than that! We won't return. There are so many other great places to eat!
Went here for a family gathering. It is such a beautiful location but that was it. First off it was very disturbing to see such filthy bathrooms. The toilet was plugged and sink area was a mess and the waste basket was over flowing. The food was just ok. We tried the seafood tower and what a disappointment. I have to be upfront in that we were just at blue water cafe the day before and had the tower there. I had the steak and Alaskan king crab. For $50 the steak was about 6 oz and there was only one small crab leg. All in all I would not recommend this place and surely I will not return. You will get a far better experience at blue water cafe for the same price
Well I had my family fly in from all parts of our country. Some from Ottawa and Nova Scotia. Yes my own mother came from NS and I decided to have her Birthday Celebrations at the Boat House. We were treated very well by staff and the food was excellent. The view is to die for and would recommend this place to others.
