Large white wine and a pint £19. Avoid! Service: 4 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Quiet
Had an incredible meal here this evening, very quaint seaside decor, friendly and welcoming staff, and one of the best meals I have had in years. I highly recommend both the Bass and the Haddock, as well as the Dessert Soufflée and Apple Pie(? . Every single component of every dish was cooked to perfection. A little on the pricey side but well worth every penny Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Luxury, Great view, Romantic, Quiet

At this seaside restaurant, the dining experience has become a topic of mixed sentiments. While some guests laud the delightful and well-prepared dishes, elegant presentation, and friendly staff, others express disappointment over recent menu changes and rising prices. Tapas-style offerings now come at steep costs, leaving some families feeling priced out of what was once a cherished spot. Quality and flavor, although occasionally exceptional, seem inconsistent, with complaints about service and dish execution. Despite these concerns, the restaurant's charming ambiance and picturesque location continue to draw visitors, making it a place of both admiration and critique.

One of my favourite places to eat. Beautiful setting with amazing sunsets. Food is just amazing. Tapas style. BBQ puff bread Asian slaw, prawn panang curry plus beef, chicken and a gorgeous cod special. Highly recommend
We stopped by for a drink, and ended up ordering 3 small plates, super tasty food of great quality, and the service was excellent as we sat outside and had an attentive waitress. Only downside is that the price point was we felt very high. (Also note there is very limited parking, although we had no trouble walking from Port Isaac)
Food was absolutely delicious but portions were little bit small. Even though it is fine dining restaurant portions could be larger a bit to enjoy the food.
Have eaten in Pilchards Cafe for many years and never been disappointed... until this year Prices have rocketed and portion size reduced. Couldn't believe the bill they presented me with. Extortionate. And we left hungry. Cancelled the tables we had booked for the rest of the fortnight. The other families we usually meet there also did the same. The ambience has died as virtually nobody is dining there. In previous years booking was essential now just turn up as there are plenty of tables. Not surprising really when they charge £7 for a beer and £85 for a small Monkfish as a sharing dish. Insulting.
We have been coming to Pilchards regularly since it opened, but never again. We booked for 8.30pm. As it is (very fast) tapas style service, we wanted to order some dishes and then order more later if needed. However, we were told that the kitchen closes at 9pm, so all our main course tapas dishes would need to be ordered before then. Why take bookings for 8.30pm (or 8.45) then?? When we queried this, the waitress said others had asked too, but that was just the rule. Piece of advice maybe listen to your customers? We did manage to order a few more small plates just after 9, but they were all on the table within another 5 minutes, meaning that we had finished eating by around 9.15pm. We ordered desserts, which we are eating at 9.30pm, only an hour after sitting down, accompanied by the smell of cleaning fluid as the staff cleaned the restaurant around us (we were the last people in there). The food was OK, but not as good as it used to be and certainly not justified by the extortionate prices we ended up paying well over £300 for 6 of us (with two bottles of wine and one beer) for an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. The restaurant needs to realise that people spending this amount of money do not want to be rushed, and want to be made to feel welcome. It was quite the opposite it felt like a money grabbing exercise by people who don't really care. And, as I said above, we will not be back. Shame.

What a little Gem. Stunning food, great service in a lovely location. Highly recommended. Parking A bit restricted but definitely worth the walk.
Excellent food, from olives to snuggle to john dory. everything really well cooked and delicious throughout. I would recommend this restaurant.
The restaurant with fantastic, picturesque tapas menus at the sea. large service and kreatiw prepared food. it was good to see how the catering team worked for everyone to offer a perfect evening.
The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The dishes were well done. The deep fried peppers were outstanding as was the soused gurnard. Scallops very good. Not cheap dining but a most enjoyable treat. Recommended. Open on a Monday too! How rare is that?

Located close to the bustling tourist hotspot of Port Isaac, this restaurant stands out as a hidden gem. With just one dining option available, the food, location, and service are all excellent, making it a must-visit for visitors to the area.
Ate here a couple of times on holiday in Port Issac. Very professional set up. Imaginative food at an affordable price, with a menu slightly changing daily, great staff, definitely a recommendation from me. Would have liked more local caught produce on the menu such as lobster, scallops, etc. Of the 3 places we eat this probably edged it on the food front. I have given the other venues 5* also BTW.
I have never been treated so badly in a place that I have been in for many years, waiting to be served. If busy, I could understand, but it wasn't busy at all. A younger person walks in and gets served before me, even though i was waiting, which I found very rude. To top it off, I wasn't expecting the shock of the price for a glass of wine- the fact of the bar person apologise for the price says it all, I found this extremely sad, in a place which was perfect in every way, welcoming, price, and now got greedy
Awful service today. Waited to be served for ages. I think the food is very overpriced!! £18 for a sandwich?! Joke. Nice cosy bar area, and beautiful port, shame the pub is situated where it is. Sadly won’t be returning, don’t know why people even go!
We were very well looked after! Accommodating with our little girl Luke who was looking after our table, went above and beyond in particular. Food was excellent. We had some yummy starters, two mains and a few drinks. Was a reasonable bill. Lovely view and lovely customers around us. All round great experience recommend.

Loved the choice of small plates- ample portions for sharing between two people. Beautiful presentation and skilful execution of taste and ingredients. Both waiting ladies were friendly and efficient and the setting for the restaurant is superb. Cannot over recommend!!
Great find, go for the sunset, unfortunately we were unlucky the evening we went but the tapas were unusual and very tasty.
It was a great shame that you seem to serve only Asian fusion at a huge price for small portions. You are a Cornish lovely seaside cafe stop being pretentious and serve local food without the ‘fusion’
We have visited this restaurant for the last two years but the change in menu to a tapas has completely ruined the experience. Will not return until the menu is changed.
Just love this place. Unique, beautifully made dishes that never disappoint and in the most gorgeous location. It’s always our go to for a special occasion
