This place shows the owners have some businesses smarts. Port Germain is a tiny town, business would be slow in the off season but the cafe is tastefully decorated in an old-world/arty way. They offer a nice range of tasty cafe meals, coffee and a great range of yummy local Golden North icecreams, my favourite being the licorice flavour. What User doesn't like about Old Pier Hotel:
We arrived midday Sunday and the local pub weren't doing meals, however they were helpful and pointed us to the Orange Van which is next to the pier. A nice place to stop for a true country feel View all feedback.
The best loaded hotdogs, crispy chips, and homemade gravy. Plus, great coffee and a fantastic view of the wharf. The staff is friendly and welcoming.
This cafe is a hidden treasure. Housed in an old building, it is well-laid out and clean, with the added bonus of outdoor seating, which was perfect for us since we had our dog with us. We initially popped in for a cup of tea, being located next to our caravan park, but ended up trying their delicious bacon and egg roll. While we are used to having our rolls toasted, this one was fresh and tasty, so no complaints there. We returned the following day for dinner and tried the Flathead fillets and chips. Even though it didn't come with the usual salad, the meal was excellent. The chef and waitress were both friendly and efficient. On our last night, we attended the chef's seafood evening, which was quite interesting. While fresh oysters were on the menu, we asked for half a dozen oysters kilpatrick, which were superb. There were a few hiccups with our meal of barramundi and chips, with only one serving initially brought out. After some back and forth, we finally received our second plate. Despite some excuses and apologies, we still enjoyed a fantastic meal. Though there were some issues that need to be addressed, the food was consistently delicious. We would definitely eat here again when we are in town.
Open mic days sundays great to spend a lazy sunday there. will definately visit again. close to caravan park and jetty.
