The Boat House Restaurant and Wine Bar

Found this last trip. You see a specials board at the base of a winding staircase and on arrival are warmly greeted and good initial service provided. The setting is excellent on a level above other cafes, looking out onto the marina if you are lucky enough to obtain a balcony table. Food was good, not great and I felt over priced for what we had, and took a long time before being served. Good wine and drinks choice.

My wife had the barramundi and said it was delicious, as for me I had one of the nicest steaks I had ever tasted. The waiter we had ( sorry I forgot his name) was perfect, attentive without being overbearing and always there for anything we required. For what we received this was very good value for money, not just for the meal but the service and pleasant surroundings.

We visited the Boat House as a party of 4. The feedback on tripAdvisor has been mixed but we decided to go for it. We were not disappointed in any way. It turns out that there was a new management team on this very night and we really had a fabulous night. All the previous issues were not a problem - portions sizes were good, flavours were good and value for money perfect. One of the highlights of the evening was the sunset and the millions of bats that passed by at sunset. We highly recommend this fabulous restaurant and sincerely hope that the new owners have a very successful future.

A group of us were excited to find this restaurant, amazing spot, a friendly man greeted us on arrival and took us to a table. We ordered and the meals came out and I was very disappointed on the salmon meal, two tiny pieces which were dry and on a bit of cucumber. Wasn't value for money and I was still hungry after. The others had an average lamb salad and an average seafood pasta. I hope you guys find a better chef.

Had a very enjoyable evening, starting off with happy hour cocktails and watching the barrier reef cruise boats come in then a meal. Food was good and we enjoyed both our mains and the desserts we couldn't resist. A very pleasant spot to spend a couple of hours savouring the sun setting.
