Minor Fisheries Ltd. - Port Colborne

Ordered the Saturday special which was pieces of perch, fries, coleslaw, and a sweet roll. The fish was lightly battered, sweet and tender and did not leave me with a heavy feeling. Delicious! The fries, however, left something to be desired soggy and...underwhelming. If they could up the fry game, it would be a near perfect fish and chip meal!

We decided to take a nice afternoon drive with the final destination being Minor Fisheries to order some perch. When we arrived, there was a short line outside the restaurant. After a short wait, we went in to order our perch, fries, and coleslaw. The wait for our order was about 10 minutes, but it was worth it. The young lady who served us was friendly and even thanked us for the tip we left inside the restaurant. She was just as pleasant when she called our order number at the takeout window. The bag was already filled with napkins, salt, pepper, forks, ketchup, and vinegar, which was very efficient. The perch was delicious and came in decently sized pieces. The coleslaw was excellent, and while the fries were nothing special, they were still good. We will definitely be back when things open up more.

I had placed a phone order and had arranged for a pickup time of p.m. Upon arrival there were people congregating outside of the building in no apparent line just standing in a group complaining that there were more than people inside the...building. I walked past the group and entered the building and waited at the designated area to pickup my order. The door opened and another patron ordered me out of the building and informed me that I’d better get in line or there would be trouble. He told me that people are allowed in and pickup times don’t mean anything in this town. I immediately left and upon calling the restaurant to inform them what transpired and that I wouldn’t be returning, the attitude of the person answering the phone was, you ordered the food you should pick it up, I explained what had happened and she said it wasn’t her problem what time I got my orders. I’ll never return to this establishment or any of their other establishments again after purchasing fish products and meals on a regular basis for plus years here weekly, and also using the Thirsty Mate regularly.

I absolutely adore the fish and chips at Minor's. They are incredibly fresh and delicious. During the summer, you can enjoy your meal on their charming outdoor patio overlooking the canal. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem, and they also offer fantastic deals on family packs.

We called in our order and was told to pick up at They have a pickup window but the person does not come to the window you actually have to wait in line with other people placing their orders. So people that are actually...passed our pickup time are getting their orders before ours. They made me wait a half hour before getting our order. I told the girl you had told us to come for and she yelled back that their are a lot of orders. I couldn’t believe she had the nerve to say that. When the order was on the counter to bag she actually left it there and continued talking to another customer and I want to emphasize it was not about her order they were just making small talk. That was so rude. When we had the meal it was completely disappointing. The fish had NO flavour, the French fries looked like they opened a bag of McCain fries. The coleslaw was the best part of the meal. I really don’t understand the wave reviews. In these times they say to support local but when the service and quality are lacking-we will never go back.
