This was recommended as one of the best restaurants to eat Codfish. And I have to say it did not disappoint. The cod is put in front of a fire so it cooks very slowly instead of over it. This is most likely the reason that you need to have a reservation. Going there without one is risky. As an entree they brought a local sausage. Deliciously tender and tasty. It is a few km away from Viana de Castelo, but definitely worth the trip, also bring a big apetite.
Best bacalhau in the world it’s here in a small village called poiares great attention on this old style tavern restaurant where everything is cooked over wood fire on a stone ovens... only two dishes cod fish and huge cow rib (tomahawk) cut
Go here if you want to have the best cod of the region. We shared the main dish between us and there was plenty. Very attentive service.
The best bacalhau in Portugal. The beef was also fantastic. The portions are huge, actually one can manage half of it. Good house wine. The service was excellent. A very pleasant atmoshpere. Better book in advance.
