Delightful setting. Genial host. The best food we have eaten in the area. A truly special evening. This is a different experience, no menu so similar to what the English would call a tasting menu but with larger portions. Each course was delicious and never the same. We also had lovely wine and Port. Have already booked to go back. I am sure this restaurant does not need anyone’s recommendation here for its success to continue!
What a lovely evening we had at Bocados. It is within walking distance from Ponte de Lima... only 2km away from the bridge... and so we left the car behind and took a shortcut over the fields to get there (wouldn 't recommend following the google walking directions though as they lead you to a locked gate towards the end which you can 't climb over! The restaurant has been converted out of the front section of the host 's home. Style is very rustic and you truly feel that you are 'at home '. We were seated on a table overlooking the very pretty garden, and were served numerous small dishes which were chosen by the host based on the produce of the day. Blue cheese tart, asparagus and ham, baked mushrooms, sausage wrapped in filo, a slow-cooked pork dish, some things I have forgotten and a coconut and egg tart followed by a small dram of port to top it all off. All for 27 euros a head! There was also a very comprehensive wine list. Truly wonderful evening and lovely stroll home to walk off the food! Two top tips. Do call in advance to book as they only open when they have guests I think. Also, if you are a fussy eater this one probably is not for you as it is a set menu based on the best from the market that day.

Highly recommended for a special meal, though at a set price of 25 euros a head it is not an exorbitant night out.
