It is not too easy to find a good place with reasonable prices when you plan to make two adults and four children happy. Here we found a great place. Very cheap children's menu (e.g. chicken steak, pommes and rice) and large, inexpensive regular (meat) portions for adults are offered. Many locals eat here and seem to be happy with this place. As our favourite restaurant Melo Abreu) was closed on a Monday we thought about eating here instead as it looked like a similar type of local place and called in for a drink first. The waiter/owner couldn't even manage a smile. Very cheap children's menu (e.g. chicken steak, pommes and rice) and large, inexpensive regular (meat) portions for adults are offered. Many locals eat here and seem to be happy with this place.
We went to Ponta Delgada in August and finding a place to sit at any restaurant was nearly impossible so we ended up finding Donatello and it was one of the best discoveries of our trip! We went there three times! Both waitresses are incredibly kind and even though the place doesn't look too fancy the food is cheap and delicious. They have awesome daily menus for lunch and very tasty options for dinner, so if you're looking for a friendly good quality restaurant in the crowded city of Ponta Delgada, this is the place! Make sure you taste their cheesecakes, they were some of the best I've ever tried in my life!

Very cheap kids menu (i.e. chicken steak, fries and rice) and big sized, low priced regular (meat fish) servings for adults are offered. Lots of locals eats here and seem to be happy with this place, too.
I had an amazing vacation in Ponta Delgada, only spoiled by the bad experience I had at this restaurant. The waiter took forever to bring a menu, take the order, bring the food (I ordered the grilled calamari; I doubt it went near a grill, it had a microwaved consistency) etc. The food had clearly been cooked and waiting to be brought out because it was cold as heck. The waiter also forgot my starter BUT was happy to attempt to charge me for it at the register. Avoid, avoid, avoid. I had tried Lan's the night before which was great and I really wish I'd gone back there.
