We arrived at the Gruta, the lava caves but had to wait an hour for our tour. We asked if there was something nearby to pass the time and they recommended this cafe/ pastry shop. Walk to the end of the lane from the cave turn right then left under the bridge. It is about a five min walk. The pastry shop is in a modern building with several tables inside. You can eat here or take goodies for takeout to eat as you travel around. The croissant with ham and cheese was excellent.
We went to two Pao do Rei locations in Ponta Delgada and they were both amazing. All the staff were helpful and friendly
Amazing coffee and bakery. Really good value. Full of locals. Two cakes and two coffees would total 4-5 euros. The fresh OJ is also really good
