Avenida Dos Anjos - Ponta Delgada

We were wandering for a place to have dinner. Trying to avoid the typical tourist spot. But we were hungry! Walking on the harbor front street we decided to give this a try. As it turns out, there were mostly locals there. The service was so personal and attentive. My husband asked what the Fish of the Day was. The server was unsure how to describe it, so he brought out four full sized raw fish to show my husband! Dinner was one of the best we had in our nine day visit to Ponta Delgado and so reasonably priced.

Two starters bacon and cheese on bread (highly recommended) grilled red snapper (excellent), 1 large beer, a bottle of white Azorean wine and one coffee. Under 60 euros! Recommended.

This restaurant is located on the Main Street along the harbour front, a short walk from the main square. We were there early, so not very busy. We started with the octopus salad with peppers, which was good. A bit cold though as it seemed to have come out of the fridge. My wife had the tuna steak, which was on the dry side (slightly overbooked, even if we asked it to be rather on the medium side). Some language issue maybe. I had the grilled octopus with blood pudding. A very good combination. The octopus was cooked to perfection and was very tender and juicy. Probably the best I ever had. It normally came with mashed sweet potatoes but I asked for regular potatoes, which I got without any problem. Obviously, a bottle of white wine was a must. Outdoor seating, great for people watching. Also a great place to see the planes taking off and coming in at the nearby airport. Overall very friendly and helpful service. Recommended.

We stayed in Ponta Delgada for 8 days and ate here 5 out of the 8 days. The food was absolutely amazing including the Bife Regionale and the Chicken in the garlic butter sauce. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. The wait staff is friendly and the food is very reasonable priced.

Outdoor cafe seating across the road from the marina. Great view and cool breeze. Good service and seafood. We came here twice for the food and the prices. Had the best grilled squid I’ve ever had. Would recommend a visit.
