What Graeme f doesn't like about The Atlantis Cafe:
We have been dining at Cafe Martinique for the past 10+ years as it was the premium restaurant in Nassau. Tonight was extremely disappointing. The cocktail bar is utterly disassociated from the restaurant with no service concept. The pianist, was cold and made no attempt to connect with her audience. She played loudly, without consideration for where she was. As a couple we normally spend three to four hundred dollar... View all feedback.
My wife and I had a fabulous dinner topped w Grand Marnier Soufflé Everything was over the top and we had David M as our fantastic waiter
My wife and I decided to have a date night at Cafe Martinique while staying at Atlantis this week. We had heard rave reviews about the food stating that the high price was justified. Well, it wasn’t according to us. I will say, the ambiance was lovely. We sat in the balcony outside. The weather was perfect and we were able to unexpectedly enjoy the Junkanoo parade while sitting there. But the drinks and food were a huge letdown. We ordered some cocktails that were overpriced as everything is at Atlantis) and completely lackluster. We had two appetizers: 1. Phyllo Wrapped Shrimp $26) this was tasty, the sauce was awesome. But it was three pieces of prawns for $26. 2. Mushroom Ravioli $22) this definitely fed the “fine dining” stereotype. The portion was tiny. You could finish it in four bites. And we tasted much more cream than mushroom or ravioli. For our entree we decided to share one as we were unsure of portion size. Glad we only ordered one. We chose the “Hog Snapper Colbert Style” $48). This was decidedly an incomplete entree dish. They literally served us one piece of fried fish on the plate with some swirls of sauce. No other accompaniment. No greens, no starch, no vegetables, no purée, NOTHING that justifies that price. We were stunned when we saw this. I had a half mind to call the chef and ask about this, but we did not want to create a scene. So we quietly ate and left. Just so disappointing considering this was our first night there. By comparison, we loved dining at Olive’s and Chop Stix on other evenings. Go for the ambiance if you want to. But know that the food will not feel worth the price.
My family and I had dinner last night the food was fantastic and David M our waiter was great. He was very attentive and made sure we had a good experience.
As a couple we normally spend three to four hundred dollars but left after a bill of sixty five dollar bill for starters. Premium prices, McDonald’s service and Wendy’s pride and appearance. Our money is better spent elsewhere from now on.
We read the reviews and were expecting a nice meal. We definitely didn’t get that. When we we’re waiting to be seated, a family left and didn’t look happy. The the hostess took us to our table. After we sat down, we noticed that there weren’t any napkins and the utensils had been moved around. There were also two menus at the table. We questioned it but brushed it off after they bright new napkins and utensils. After we made our selections and put the menus aside to one side of the table, the waiter kept passing our table and didn’t pay us any attention. After we flagged him down and told him that we were ready to order, he said that he thought we were waiting for another person. We all cut down our order because we already talked about eating small and getting pizza afterwards. We placed our order and then realized that all the other tables had plates and place settings. Did we get a recycled table??? We think we did. It was too late to turn back. First of all, the order was wrong. We asked for 2 French onion soups, two orders of ravioli, and one order of French mashed potatoes. We didn’t receive one of the soups. Our food was devoid of taste. There were probably 8 very small pieces of ravioli and it wasn’t very good. The French onion soup didn’t have any cheese. To top it off, one of the soups had onion skins in it. The soup, too, didn’t have much taste to it. Additionally, the butter that was served with the bread, before the entrees arrived, was really hard. It’s like it was pulled straight out of the refrigerator without letting it thaw. The best part of the meal was the wine, and we didn’t get the good stuff. I don’t see us ever going back.
