the New Umberto's Pizza - Pompano Beach

A few months ago, we stumbled upon New Umbertos and were pleasantly surprised by what we found. The bartender, Jeff, greeted us with a smile and made us feel right at home. We have returned many times since then, always opting to sit at the bar with Jeff. The food is fantastic and highly recommended!

Even for a typically slow Thursday, it seemed like a restaurant as good as Umberto's should have been much busier. The atmosphere was pleasantly old school, just like our dinner. We started with a bowl of delicious lentil soup and garlic rolls. For our main course, we chose the meat lover's pizza, which was the perfect size and had a variety of amazing toppings. The crust was also delicious! Our bartender, Jeff, was attentive and made us feel like regulars. The large screen TVs were all showing sports as well. This is a place that still holds onto old world values, which is becoming increasingly rare in today's South Florida. Thankfully, Umberto's still has it! We will definitely be returning.

We first visited Umberto in May 2021 and have since become regulars. The pizza is excellent, the steamed mussels are delicious, and the seabass is flaky and served hot! Jeff is the best bartender in town, always with a smile on his face (when not wearing a mask) and serving up a mean cocktail. The restaurant is nicely decorated for the holidays, adding to the fun experience. Sitting on the veranda listening to the pianist is a lovely touch. The prices are fair, especially during happy hour. While the service for food may not be the quickest in the city, the great atmosphere and drinks make it worth the wait as we can just chill and enjoy the moment.

Last night I had a fabulous dinner at Umberto. My husband and I love sitting at their cozy bar for dinner. Snapper Francese was always one of my favorite meals and I ordered it for the first time in Umberto's last night. The part was very large and it was prepared for perfection as the spinach sautes in fresh garlic olive oil. This combination is a meal that I often ordered in many restaurants and Umberto's is #1. Jeff, the bartender, took care of us perfectly and it was a relaxed wonderful evening, just what we needed on a Friday night after work all week. The owners, Luisa Sergio, also stopped chatting with us. Bravissimo Umberto's!!!

I absolutely loved it! It was my first time going, my husband and I have been wanting to go for awhile so we planned a night there with friends. I made a reservation for 10 and i was so surprised they were able to do it on a Saturday night last minute. When we got there, it was packed, great to see the business doing so well. We were seated over outside by the live music and what a positive fun vibe the whole walk to the table. People were clapping, dancing, singing along, laughing, great to see so much happiness. The smell of the food, the plates leaving the kichen onto the tables was spectacular! It did take a very long time to even get our drink order in, about 30 minutes, and to get the drinks was another 20, it was so crazy busy (that is the only reason I give it 4 stars because it would be 5 if not for the long wait. The food came quick and to my amazement nice and hot and it all looked so good. The pizza looked and tasted so delicious, thin crust, crisp with the doughy center. The toppings were so fresh, the mussels so SCRUMPTIOUS!!! My ceaser salad soooo crisp, fresh, perfect dressing (not too thick, not watery The chicken parm my friend had looked incredible too. My margarita was top notch, i will be back for a margarita and my muscles and ceaser very soon. The guy singing is quiet the star, he is so talented, so smily, going around to the tables and singing, getting people up to dance. He played and sang italian, spanish and english, so beautiful, the music and the performance. We danced and ate, all while watching everyone else around us dancing and singing, such a great atmosphere. Luisa our waitress was awesome under pressure, she was overwhelmed but never acted like it with us, she was very attentive. Great service and also the other staff that was there, like the gentleman that sat us and another guy that was with him were all very nice. The place is clean including the bathrooms in spite of how busy it was. Will be back very soon!
