Sunset Catch - Pompano Beach
Sunset Catch
Description
Perched on the intercoastal, this lively waterfront restaurant impresses with well-presented, flavorful seafood, nightly live music and alfresco terrace seating. Attentive servers can make evenings memorable, but experiences vary: service is sometimes rushed or slow, music can be loud, and prices feel high for occasionally small or uneven portions. Ideal for date nights and music lovers who value atmosphere over quiet dining; plan for municipal parking and potential waits.

Feedback
The food was excellent, and the presentation was impressive. However, the service left much to be desired. The blonde bartender showed a bit of an attitude when I opted not to order an alcoholic drink, even though several others in our group did. Our waiter seemed disinterested, almost as if he wanted to be anywhere but there. Before we even had a chance to look through the menu, he rushed us for our main course choices just after we had ordered drinks and appetizers. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place, nor would I return.
I went with another couple and had a wonderful dinner on the upper porch, watching the sun set over the intercoastal. I enjoyed a whole pompano fish grilled to perfection, accompanied by broccoli rabe, while my friend had the same dish. The women ordered grilled plaice flounder served with potatoes and vegetables. For an appetizer, we had an excellent conch and fish ceviche, and we finished off with cheesecake for dessert. It was a fantastic place to enjoy a lovely dinner!
We were seated outside, which was encouraging since there were many other patrons, but it was baffling how they managed to attract such crowds. This place is quite pricey for what you get. I ordered the lobster mac and cheese, but it didn't match the description on the menu—just a bland sauce with no parmesan as promised. The lobster was decent, but the claw meat raised some concerns. My husband had the mushroom pasta, which was good, but at almost $30, it didn't feel like a good value. Our server, Rachel, was lovely—knowledgeable and attentive, which was the highlight of our experience. Overall, we left with a less-than-great impression and won't be returning. I really hope they can develop a clearer vision and a menu that justifies the high prices. I understand running a restaurant is challenging, and I genuinely wish them the best.
We sat outside on the terrace and it was lovely with a nice view of the intercoastal. Live music is featured every night which adds to the ambience. My husband and I both enjoyed main course specials that were delicious. Whole Branzino grilled and lamb shank braised Osso Buco style. Octopus and bruschetta apps were also very good. I would not recommend the Keylime pie as it was too sweet and mostly whip cream, a disappointment after such a great meal. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. We will be back!
