We selected one of the set menus as we knew from past experience of Tapas restaur... read more My wife and I booked a meal at this restaurant yesterday in the secret garden. We selected one of the set menus as we knew from past experience of Tapas restaurants it is easy to overdo the amount of food you order and the set menus tend to get that correct. However there were two items on the set menu my wife and I will not eat. One was anchovies the other is chickpeas. We just do not like them. We checked the main menus and asked if we could swap these two dishes for two others which on the main menu were the same price. The waiter was a bit hesitant and said it should not be a problem but he would need to check. When he came back he told us we could not. We asked why and he told us they did allow some dishes to be swapped but not these. He could not give a reason. I asked which dishes could be swapped but he could not tell me. Had we not started our wine we would have left there and then. However my wife does not like to make a fuss or argument so told the waiter to just go ahead but that just soured our whole meal. We had two dishes we simply did not want and did not eat. The restaurant would not have lost out as the two dishes we selected were the same price so why.? What terrible customer service. We are from Newcastle and have visited the sister restaurant there, El Cotto, where at our last visit we were allowed to swap one of the dishes. There is no rhyme or reason not to do so. Surely it should be about giving the customer a great culinary experience.
