You must visit VdP for dinner. The food is superb and the service is exceptional. The staff are very friendly and make sure you are comfortable. Do yourself a favour and visit the cellar door and then have dinner. View all feedback.
What Reba Goldner doesn't like about Villa du Pays:
Very dissapointed. The service was poor and they only had 5 tables to look after in the restaurant, for the first hour there were the only 3 tables. A lot of waitresses standing around not doing anything and not aware If what is going on in the restaurant. The scallop entree was lovely. My steak was cooked medium rare and I asked for medium. This restaurant is supposedly famous for it's moisture controlled aged beef and so my wife and I and an invited couple went to lunch today. They have a cooler room full of carcasses etc but when I ordered the eye fillet char grilled steak, they had none prepared! We had scotch fillets but that was not why we chose this restaurant. Rather than make a scene, I ordered the cheapest white and red wine, my wife didn't bother with an entree, we had no desserts and $400 later we left.... The seared scallop entrees and pork confit were fine, the steaks were a little too salty, more pre-seasoning of the meat than I would have expected, the complimentary sorbet was delicious and the service was excellent - But, the top steak was not available and no-one seemed apologetic... I was not even offered the Nolan's Private selection meats... Very disappointing and will be avoided in future. If I had been there by myself I would have walked out.

After reading a good review of a local restaurant- we made a quick escape (will try and post that nxt) and stumbled upon this restaurant- though not found on Yelp this is by far one for eh most incredible restaurants in the Hunter Valley. I had the duck which was cooked to perfection perfectly matched with a dreamy wine. My friend who had the lamb which would have raced to the slaughter house to be a part of that meal - was in awe.The service was absolutely stunning - Hannah from Texas served us and her warmth, professionalism and knowledge was impeccable.Desert was the salted caramel Bomb which was the perfect ending.I can't wait to bring my husband back for its warm atmosphere and degustation menu.Such a treasure of a find
We stumbled across Villa du Pays tonight (after going to another dinner booking and leaving but that's another story!!). We walked in about 6.45pm and were warmly greeted by the beautiful Hannah, who happily showed us to a table. The service was lovely, and we enjoyed being served by Hannah. I had the lamb And it was divine. The brokeback Shiraz was beautiful. For dessert my friend and I shared the caramel bomb Alaska, recommended by Hannah. We weren't disappointed. The atmosphere, ther service and the food were all superb. We even loved that Hannah arranged for us to have a taste test of one of the premier reds from the estate that Qantas serve to their business and first class passengers! We will definitely be back at the restaurant (we wanna try the degustation menu!) and will be back to taste test the Leosgate estate wine!! We LOVED our meal here and can't wait to come back!!
We recently visited the restaurant celebrating a special occasion and could have not picked somewhere better! The service from John was amazing, his hospitality is one-of-a-kind. The food is delicious and the wine is great. Thank you for making our celebration so special, we can't wait to come back again.
