I had lobster rolls 4 days out of my 6 in PEI and this was by far the best tasting, and surprisingly, the best price too. Unfortunately I got takeout because the restaurant was full, and could not try more items because they only offer their lobster rolls and chowders for takeout.

We wanted to go here based on our friend's recommendation....they were not able to get a reservation because they were not to call during the times you can make reservations by phone....you can't do it online....but I set an alarm during the times they answer the phone and got a reservation.......the setting is lovely and the staff is friendly and the beer is good.....the oysters were good but the service is incredibly slow, the chowder is average, and the mussels (which we had multiple times on PEI) were fresh but the implementation was tasteless. Very disappointing. We had expected to return the next day for lunch, because we love the menu, but did not because we would not return or recommend it to others. Not sure why this gets good reviews but there are soooooo manyyyyy better places on the island.......this place os not worth the trip.

We were looking forward to finally making it to the Chowder House in Point Prim. I tried calling their number one day and could not get anything but a busy signal so i messaged them on Facebook asking how to go about making a reservation. Was told they never make reservations via Facebook but on this occasion they would make me one - offered me a time later than i was requesting but we were okay with that. The night finally arrived and as we were driving down to the restaurant my friend called me saying "they don't have our reservation, he's telling me he NEVER makes reservations via Facebook". I arrived and calmly showed him our chat over messenger and he apologized and offered us a seat down on a picnic table. He told me our friends were offered this but they refused (my friend later told me they weren't offered it). We ordered our drinks (they serve Gahan beer which is great) and then made some meal choices. I found the menu somewhat disorganized with apps and mains scattered throughout the 2 pages. Lots of seafood offerings - we had a hard time choosing. As we were at the "Chowder House" we had to order chowder as apps. I got the creamy seafood chowder and my husband got the lobster bisque. Both were okay, I've had better. After our appetizers our waitress asked us if we'd like dessert, we told her we'd like our mains first and then we'd think about dessert. There was a bit of time before our mains arrived and then they were served - a seafood pot with crab and a scallop bake. These were tasty and the best part of our meal. We were quite full after this and were not considering dessert but our waitress did not arrive back to ask so we went inside to pay our bill. At the end of our meal we noticed that others seated at the picnic tables were offered real tables and seats in the upper patio area. I was disappointed we were seated at a picnic table vs. a real table when it was his error and we weren't just trying to squeeze in without a reservation. On a good note the view of the sunset was spectacular. The service left a bad taste in my mouth, i likely will not return.

We stopped in for lunch and were just so happy we did. Lobster roll was so fresh, lobster melt was to die for and the steamer pot was delicious! Couldn’t have asked for a better view from the patio either! 100% going back for more!

So disappointing how they changed this wonderful gem. In the past they had lovely table service and high end restaurant experience. Well they changed to canteen, serve yourself style, and continued with the high end pricing. My husband, daughter and I visited july 2023, it was a beautiful day with an even more beautiful view. We ordered beer came in a plastic glass) , wine came with a drinking glass not a wine glass) i was actually appalled. Im sorry but if i order wine at a restaurant I expect to enjoy it from a proper wine glass. Another customer had made the same comment while we were there. The food was tasty however, we picked it up from a window and it was in a plastic dishpan in compostable takeout containers. We ate with plastic knives and forks and our total bill was 120$. If we pay that kind of money we should not be eating with a plastic fork. Until they change things... im sorry to say.. we won 't be back.
