I’ve used Warrens for a few years now and in my humble opinion they’re the nicest pasties and pastries you can get around Plymouth from a ‘chain bakery’ BUT you’d have to remortgage your house if you want to buy for a family of 5 like I have sometimes. They’re really expensive. I’d also advise getting sweet pastries early on in the day too to avoid any being stale. A massive plus is that the staff are lovely at this... View all feedback.
What Jannerbloke doesn't like about Warrens Bakery:
Warrens is a big chain of far West Country neighbourhood bakers shops. Nothing special amongst the stuff on sale, basic predictable choices not cheap but competitive enough. Warrens are said to be the longest continuous pasty makers but I wouldn't say that the pasty they sell is much more than functional. When the rather nice little bistro across the road is shut, there is nowhere else in Elburton village for a sit d... View all feedback.
We visited on Thursday, August 15th around noon, so I would have thought the food would have been hot! Unfortunately, the empanadas were lukewarm, had a very greasy taste, and were not of good quality. For 2 medium-sized empanadas that were smaller compared to other bakeries, the cost was over $7.00 and they were of poor quality! We will not be returning to this bakery! ??
While nearby we bought some bread something and very special cakes and pastries. The products were cheaper than in a local national supermarket, but the quality of this bakery was very good. We used it over time. The staff of women were very nice. A pleasure to shop there.
We are a large chain of neighborhood bakeries in the West Country. Nothing special among the items for sale, basic and predictable options are not cheap, but competitive enough. We say we are the longest continuous pasty makers but I wouldn't say the pasties we sell are much more than functional. When the small bistro across the street is closed, there is nowhere else in the village with an Elburton snack except us, but it is a bit disappointing because the room in the back is austere and a bit like a school hall with some critics around the walls. There is a very useful parking lot right next to us, but the spaces are often full because they are shared with several businesses.
The trouble with Warrens is that the the pasties, sausage rolls and the huge choice of cakes are too often stale and especially with the items kept in the counter top warming cabinet. It 's an expensive shop in my opinion compared to the likes of Ivor Dewdney....I would hope for a top notch pastie but they aren 't. The 'large ' is now a 'medium ' of a few years ago. I suppose this is the same trick all food manufacturing trick.
A nice selection friendly staff good service but i thought it is very expensive.we would go back again
