We had their delicious Snapper and Octopus the first time and came back to try the shrimp and fish tacos. Both times, the food and service were superb. We also loved their home made mustard sauces. We couldn't get enough of it. They need to bottle it and sell it. Thank you to the owner and Ignacio for enjoyable meals there. View all feedback.
What Robb Botsford doesn't like about El Guero Marisqueria Veracruzana:
This restaurant had good reviews, and I wanted Pulpo but they did not have it. The service was not the best, they brought us the food with no silverware. The food ended being good. View all feedback.
All the staff were so friendly and the food was amazing! Loved the crab nachos! They even gave us complimentary crab soup which was amazing as well! My husband said that was the best margarita he's had in Mexico! Amazing experience.
El Guero was recommended to us as a great spot for seafood in Playa del Carmen and we were surprised when we realised it was on 5th Avenue, albeit at a less busy end of the street.Staff were welcoming and attentive from the start. We arrived in the early evening, were seated quickly and given a glass of seafood broth and a bowl of tortilla chips. We ordered a plate of ceviche and snapper. The ceviche was outstanding - really fresh, with a lovely, sharp citrus flavour and a lump of avocado (avocado makes everything better). This dish alone would be enough to bring us back. The fish meal wasn't so memorable, alas. The fish itself, snapper, was sliced paper thin and had little flavour. It was decorated with overpowering slices of fried garlic and thin strips of what we think might have been fried red cabbage but we're not sure. There was, however, a pile of mashed refried beans on the plate that tasted amazing - they saved it. We couldn't fault the service here and the location is nice, away from the hordes but with enough foot traffic that it's a good spot for people watching. Come for the ceviche!

We came here due to the review of Trip advisor. I must say we are glad that we did. We had the fresh Red Snapper & the Octopus. Both were amazing. The snapper came with homemade mustard sauce and the fried garlic & chili oil which complimented the fish very well. The habanero mustard was AMAZING. We were going to buy some. Since they do not sell the sauce, they gave us a some to take. Ignacio was our server. He was very nice and attentive to our needs. The owner was very sweet. We love it so much that my sister and mom went there after we left. The service was excellent and the price was very reasonable.
