Big Sammy's Italian Eatery - Plainfield

Dont confuse the route30 big sammys dine in restaurant with this place. Im not sure if they are affiliated but I think most the 5 star reviews for this location are people confusing it with the place 10 minutes away. I thought Big sammys Italian eatery would be a slam dunk as i saw it has a 4.5 rating but it definitely is not. Stale bread and literally use kraft american cheese singles on their sandwiches that they charge $10+ for.. how embarrassing for a place claiming to be a real italian eatery not to have fresh sliced deli meat and cheeses for their sandwiches.. i shouldve known to walk right out when it was dead empty on a Sunday afternoon

Downtown Plainfield has trunk or treat today and I went into Sammy's for food for me and my family. Whoever was working the counter today was a gem, she was so nice and polite while they were getting bombarded. I ordered a half turkey sub which is huge btw and 2 slices of pepperoni pizza. My 7 year old loved the pizza and he's a super picky eater. My girlfriend and I also tried the pizza and we both liked it. It's a big slide also. $4 per slice. The turkey sub was ok. It's $7 for half but it's a big half. Turkey, cheese, tomato, red onion, mayo, lettuce. For me it could have have used more mayo and it was a little bread heavy for me.

Great Idea ... Sports Bar and GREAT Italian food ... Great food, staff, sports bar environment, and even Big Sammy came to our table. Try it, you'll like it!! I had the Chicken Vesuvio, my wife had the Egg Plant Parmesan, and my brother in law had the pork chop Vesuvio ... All were fantastic! Good selection of beers also plus a ton of TV monitors... Try it, we did, we liked it and we are going there again!!

A great place to eat but I'm just disappointed that they hosted an event for the illegal family that was involved in an unfortunate incident. Why not divert the funds to American Citizens and help American groups like homeless veterans? Why help people who shouldn't be here in this county and not those who fought for this great county? I'm disappointed by the lack of patriotism and support for our veterans

Quite pricey for what you get and the workers give off the vibe that they don't want you there but the food and service is otherwise great. The Italian ice and gelato are cheap compared to the actual food they serve and I'd recommend them greatly.
