**Restaurant Review: Samurai X Sushi Teriyaki – A Mixed Bag of Sushi Experiences**
At Samurai X Sushi Teriyaki, diners encounter a spectrum of sushi experiences. While loyal patrons praise the restaurant for its fresh fish and generous portions—especially highlighting the salmon sashimi and spicy rolls—recent reviews reflect decline in quality. Complaints about dry rice, uneven rolls, and occasionally subpar tempura shrimp have surfaced, indicating inconsistency in preparation. Despite these issues, many still regard it as a top sushi destination in Pittsburgh, favoring the sashimi and excellent service. While there are areas for improvement, the restaurant continues to attract a dedicated following.

This is the best Japanese restaurant in Pittsburgh. We've been customers for nine years, and everything on the menu is great, especially the sushi. It's consistently well-prepared. I highly recommend this place!
The experience was mediocre at best, and giving it three stars feels almost too generous. The sushi rice was especially disappointing—overly sticky and lacking flavor, and it didn’t seem like real short grain. The fish itself was decent, though. The packaging felt cheap, as they used aluminum foil. Additionally, one of our group isn’t a fan of lemon on fish, so the lemon served with the sashimi wasn’t appreciated. The soy sauce was extremely salty as well. The lemon slices on the 49er roll should be very thin; no one wants to bite into thick wedges of lemon. Overall, it was just underwhelming.
Sunset roll was soooo good! Both the spicy tuna and spicy salmon(hand roll) was so fresh. They are not Stingey with portions either. Very filling, fresh, and delicious.
This is my favorite sushi restaurant! I've been coming here since my husband and I started dating 8 years ago, and I've never been let down.
