Wow, apparently they just came out of the oven because they were still steaming. I thought I could be huged on the collective when people melt the flavors from my pocket. So I sat and finished a few – they were delicious. In the meantime I saw some guinea pigs in these holes, blissfully not aware that they would be the dinner of the night. Exactly.
The empanadas we had were made fresh and delicious only 4 Sol per Empanada). We also enjoyed their Chicha Morada.
Take empanadas are delicious. There was only one kind of cheese and onion. Service a bit rough. A few tables allow to eat baked specialties like the cuddly.
Worth popping in to see the huge oven but don't bother to pay the 4 soles for aempanada thick dough with hardly any stuffing! At the cafe next to it they charged 10 soles for a small Cusquena beer which is a lot more...than we have been charged elsewhere.
The Empanadas come straight out of the huge stone oven, fresh and warm. We ate here after hiking the ruins, were famished, and polished off 5 or 6 of these each! We just nodded to the proprietor and he kept bringing us more. One of my favorite memories from our trip.
