Cosy and romantic restaurant situated in a local area within central Pisa. The restaurant is situated in an old church from the 13th Century. We enjoyed plates of fresh pasta and traditional desserts all home made! The restaurant also offers gluten free food. Very good!
A small place run by an Italian family with amazing food. I had a great experience overall and I highly recommended this place!
This restaurant is an old church converted into a restaurant. We were early for our table and the family accommodated our needs. The service is not quick and you need to pay by cash. However the attention to detail and presentation is second to none. The lady chef presented us with extra courses and told us in detail about the food given to us. It was like a food tour in a way and you could tell that she was passionate about what she was serving. Everything was fresh and delicious. Personally I prefer family run interesting establishments like this than run of the mill bog standard places. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would recommend to anyone. If we were staying in Pisa it would become a regular restaurant to visit for us.
We were attracted to this place earlier in the day and vowed to come back later for a glass of wine. We were the only customers. The service was a little chaotic but friendly enough and we were given veggie nibbles. The trouble was that due to the lack of customers, the barman took to his computer where he started watching a history programme at high volume it was really irritating. We just didn't exist for the staff and the family. We felt we had strayed into a private living room. From the positive reviews it is clear, this not usual and I imagine that with more people around it would be very different. We were not encouraged to stay and sample the menu, which others have praised. What a pity we arrived at just the wrong time!
This is a wonderful family run establishment that offers the warmest of welcomes and makes you feel right at home. The food is delicious and the chef thoroughly enjoys discussing ingredients and techniques with customers as well as introducing them to local Tuscan specialities. They are also more than happy to cater to people with special dietary needs and created lovely bespoke dishes for my coeliac friend on several occasions. The wine list is great, and like the food is very reasonably priced. A genuine jewel in Pisa's crown!
