My partner and I ordered the vegan and vegetarian options. The French onion soup was so saturated with onions it was too filling to the point of making the onions overpowering. The beetroot bon bons were almost unpalatable as the pasta dough was uncooked and chewy and the flavour of the mandarin sauce was barely noticeable , with the beetroot mix being bland. Not at all enticing or flavoursome. The soufflé was okay but too overpowering with goat cheese; could have been lighter as a soufflé usually is. The fried zucchini and flowers were enjoyable. Great location and venue, but really disappointing food. Vegetarian options: Very limited and for vegan only one main and one dessert. The restaurant is part of the Curlewis Golf course and has a lovely outlook. The restaurant for us tonight was 50% full and the atmosphere with the open fire enjoyable . Particularly enjoyable was that the noise level was low so conversation was easy. The staff were worth 5 stars , attentive, engaging and competent. Unfortunately the food was a let down. Presentation was worth 5 stars. BUT I had the duck for an entree and the rabbit for a main. I didn’t enjoy the sauce on the duck hence struggled with it . So you can imagine my disappointment to find the sauce on the rabbit was IDENTICAL to the entree.!! 2 in our group ordered the steak and although cooked and presented beautifully the accompanying bearnaise sauce was unpalatable and hence both meals were left unfinished. The mushroom meal was enjoyed. We enjoyed ourselves and the evening and we thank the staff for the wonderful service but unfortunately we’re not likely to return. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
Visited this restaurant on Bastille day, after reading the menu in a local paper. My partner and I were so excited. From the minute we arrived the vibe was not a good one and it got progressively worse as the evening continued, I wanted to leave unfortunately we paid $300 upon booking. No french music, cold horrible food the entire crowd of people had a disappointed sombre look on their faces. I have visited many French restaurants in Melbourne, Geelong and France. Never before had I experienced that. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
