A hidden gem that deserves recognition. I stumbled upon this fish and chip shop while wandering around, and I am glad I did. Taking a wrong turn paid off nicely. I used this plaza parking lot to turn in and saw this fish and chip shop with no cars outside and an open sign, so I took a chance. So glad I did. The halibut was huge and cooked to perfection, it was balanced atop a mound of fries and I took the mushy peas as a side order along with the cole slaw that was part of the meal. I am a big eater and that pile was about as much as I could handle. Great couple who run the place and their service was wonderful.
Ordered the halibut with half-fries and coleslaw. The batter on the fish was nice and light without any sogginess. The fish was cooked properly. The fry portioning was just perfect for lunch and were freshly prepared without being greasy. The coleslaw was crispy and fresh but lacked creaminess. Overall, it was good value for money. The menu offered plenty of choice. The atmosphere was clean and the service was polite, friendly, and not over-bearing.
We always stop in when we visit Pickering, mainly for their fish and chips lunch special. You get so much food and the fish is cooked fresh when you order it. YUM
The Fish was good but the chips were over cooked and not particularly nice. _It's local but I'd rather go to one of the other place in Pickering.
I've been going here for years. The owners are always polite and friendly. I normally get the haddock and fries or poutine. Portions are large and the food is good, I think they can improve on the fries though in my opinion.
