Unbelievable Paella cooked the traditional way over wood. Flavour to die for accompanied with lovely fresh salads, well worth the trip and highly recommended.

Our group of 4 Canadian travelled to Picassent to try the “best paella” in the Valencia Province/ Spain. We were given this information by a Spanish couple who were staying in the same hotel as we were. We drove roughly 30 minutes from our vacation condo in Cullera to enjoy a late lunch, having made our reservation for 2:00 PM. Upon arriving we were provided with waters and Spanish menus. An adjacent table guest assisted us by explaining the menu details, as we were only partially fluent in Spanish. He also assisted us in making our lunch orders. As well, we ordered draft beers (2), a glass of sangria and a glass of vino blanco. We ordered a fresh mixed salad for 4 as well as the traditional chicken and rabbit paella for 4. The salad was excellent; but the paella, was absolutely superb! What a fantastic lunch! The service was also exceptional. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The restaurant was recommended for paella by our host in Valencia. We had hard time making reservation because none in the restaurant speaks english, so we decided to just go onsite. We had to wait around 1 hour for paella, because we didn 't have reservation, but we were ok with that. The staff was very friendly they allowed us to see the 'kitchen ' where they cook the paella and the paella itself was really good.

Outstanding paella at unbelievable low prices. No wonder is mentioned in almost every publication as one of the best places for paella near Valencia.

Outstanding experience! We have reserved our table and paella by email, they give us all the needed information about the dishes and how to reach the restaurant. Even if we had to spend a lot of time to reach it, around 4 hours and 30 minutes going with metro to Picassent and by walk to the restaurant, I can say that it definitively deserve all this time! We arrived before the hour of the reservation, so they kindly invited us in their cuisine to show us their cooking method giving us some explaination too; after that we ordered an entree of chipirones (squids) and the wine. The entree was almost perfect: great taste and perfect cooking. The paella was simply amazing: rich of taste and a little bit smokey, I really loved it. Also the dessert was good. And the bill was really cheap if compared with the center of Valencia. I hope I can go again to El Alter, I loved the food and the staff. It is a very big sin if you don't go there when going to Valencia.
