First time and I drove right past this place, as it is easy to miss. But inside it’s a great traditional brewery vibe. The dudes behind the counter are super knowledgeable and patient. Went with the cream ale (Happy Jack) and it was excellent. I would have tried a flight, but I didn’t see too many others that sounded good to me. And most of their beers were 6% or higher in alcohol so if you like strong beer, this is... View all feedback.
What Benjamin Murphy doesn't like about Grand Avenue Brewing Company:
I like the environment and the beer was fine. However, the buster burger was the worst burger I can remember having. They drench it in some chipotle sauce so the buns come out to you soggy. Truly horrifying. Complete with a side of low effort potato salad. Disappointing given the ratings. View all feedback.
So far so good. Been here a couple times. Enjoying the beer. They had cask ale on last visit ???? Food choices from the smoker. Try the smoked baked potato!
Never seen so many Belgian style beers in one place. Their Tartonic berliner weisse is the most sour beer I have ever tasted in my life. Definitely recommend this place.
There's nothing here I didn't like. Let's start with beer since it's a brewery. They have cask-conditioned beers, which is rare. They also run the gammut from hazy IPA to stout to various Belgian styles (the quad was my favorite . Then there's the food. Excellent pulled pork sandwich, great green chili baked potato and my commando sandwich was excellent. Everything was also reasonably priced. Then there's the atmosphere. On the Saturday night we were there, it was quiet and laid back. You order at the bar, both food and drink. The bartender knows his stuff and is very friendly. They also have good seating and board games. If we lived closer, this would be a frequent hangout. (I guess we should've taken a photo before devouring everything.
Excellent food and beer, great atmosphere, many selections of beer to try.
Ever smoke a potato? Me either, but here they do it for you and boy are they delicious! And there are so many topping options to enhance the spud even more. I wanted to try their house smoked pork belly so I ordered the Papa Pig potato with all the fixin's and I've never had such a melt in your mouth pork belly! My friend indulged in the Buster Burger: 1/3 lb burger on a brioche bun, cheese, balsamic caramelized onions and chili pepper aoli with a side of smoked potato salad with sour cream, bacon, and dill.John was tending bar and he really knows his beers and helped me choose my flight--usually I'm disappointed by some, but every one, especially the darks, were delicious. I especially enjoyed their Black Jack Black Cream Ale has added black malt to Happy Jack and nitro, so it was like a Guinness but surprisingly had more of a richness of flavor.Oh, I must not forget the building! It's from 1947 and has had many incarnations, but I'm glad it no longer sells sheet metal or used tires, but beer and smoked potatoes, and that there is also about 3,000 sq. ft. patio space to enjoy as well.
