This is a good place for a dinner with family or meeting

A decent live music pub in the small town. It's called Chai Fahng. I had delicious Thai food. The menu has a lot of English and some pictures. Frog seems to be one house specialty (didn't try). The house band plays melodious Thai rock, a little bit of Carabao and the odd, dance-leg tickling luukthung. The mood goes up when the last, faster set starts around 11 pm with all the songs that pull the plugs. The place is not half open air, but sealed, and for my taste too loud. I was there on several weekdays and it was only half full. I only saw one house band there, with various singers. During lengthy breaks, they replay silly disco music (just like in the big Tawan Daeng music halls around the country). The place sees no westerners. This gives the foreign visitor some attention.

Chai Fang (Riverside Return) is iconic in Chiang Kham and a must visit place if you're passing through. Good food, great service, great live music and atmosphere.
