I'll give it a 6 out 10. Food wasn't bad, neither was service. Felt the food was overpriced and pricing in the menus a bit confusing. Some of their menu items weren't available and we were there as early as 11:30am. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Uncle Roy's Bbq:
Place is very expensive for the small amount of food they serve. I wondered why it was lunch hr and the place was completely empty.I usually wouldn't mind paying when food is tasty, food was cold and served in small portions. Sweet tea and lemonade is powdered and tasted awful. We asked for chips and salsa and it was ridiculously and funny at the same time that the server brought us two chips and salsa bowl with no s... Good BBQ, quick service and fair prices! Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20 Recommended dishes: BBQ Combo
Excellent BBQ, we had the brisket plate and the stuffed baked potato, carry out, pictures attached. We thoroughly enjoyed both dishes. Smoker was going and the smell was great. Not that big of a place inside and the menu is mostly limited to BBQ items. If you want BBQ highly recommend Uncle Roy's. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
On my first visit, I ordered a $10 plate and the portions were small. The second time, I went for a $15 plate, and it was even worse than the first. The only thing I got more of was French fries. I've dined at other restaurants that offer reasonable portions, unlike this one that seems to only cater to children. The service isn’t great either; sometimes the staff have long faces, which just adds to the negativity of the experience. Today was my last visit, and I won’t be coming back. My family and friends have also shared their complaints about this place and have stopped ordering from Roy's as well. We’d rather drive all the way to Alamo or Weslaco instead. It’s a shame because the food is good, but the portion sizes simply aren't worth the price!
The brisket here is outstanding! I opted for takeout for lunch, and I was pleased with the price, which ranged from $10 to $20 per person. The food deserves a perfect score of 5, and I found the service just as impressive, also earning a 5. While the atmosphere was decent, I’d rate it a 3. I highly recommend trying the Brisket Plate!
As someone who comes from a family that barbecues weekly, I can easily recognize when chicken is a day old. Considering that I bought 8 tickets for a fundraiser, I expected Uncle Roy to serve fresh chicken to make a good impression on newcomers. Unfortunately, he opted for dry, old chicken, which is quite disappointing, especially since it was clearly leftovers. Everything else was excellent, but that really missed the mark for me! Price per person: $1–10.
