We were there around Easter 2024. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a menu online or outside the restaurant beforehand, and we were very surprised by how few dishes there were. There were only about six main courses. A small menu is fine for us, as long as the dishes are at least good enough. However, we were very disappointed. The salad, in particular, was more cafeteria-style. It's okay, but not restaurant-standard. I'd rather make a salad at home next time. The quality of the ingredients may be organic/Demeter, but ultimately, the taste of the overall product is what counts, and I simply can't recommend it.

Very nice conditions, nice atmosphere. But that's unfortunately all. The food is tasty, but it doesn't fill you up. Even the children weren't full, and we had to order dessert. The selection is very small; we flipped the menu several times, and there weren't any more. Only two meat dishes. The goulash was about two handfuls of spaetzle and five chunks of organic veal for €21. The side salad, which cost €4.50 and was a small bowl, cost 4. So, for a family of four, 4 x €21 €84 just for the main course €18 for the side salad. You could have also opted for a veal sausage for €18. Of course, it's understandable that the operators have to pay rent, gas, electricity, staff, and ingredients. But so do other restaurants, and you don't leave hungry.

The surprise menu was incredibly delicious. The portions were just enough for the two of us women. However, I can imagine it might be tight for hungry men. Suggestion: Offer filling side dishes as a second helping. The service was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was pleasant. It's a shame that the bread (4 toasted slices) is charged extra at a hefty €3. Even though it's organic bread, I would reconsider the price... hence the one-star deduction. It's a shame that the 10% discount from 8Peaks doesn't apply to pre-paid meals.

We ate at the Gasthof Engel. The selection was very small. The prices were exorbitantly expensive. While they claim to use organic products, which would justify a slightly higher price, these ingredients were certainly not bought from a local farmer, but from a pharmacy. For example, mustard for a bratwurst costs an additional €2 per person. Then came the bratwurst with sauerkraut (no side dish). The sauerkraut was firm to the bite, as if it had just been warmed up in a pot without any additional seasoning. It was a sure sign that we would get a stomachache. This was definitely our last time there, even though the small dining room was quite cozy. A shame!
