What Iris Scherrer doesn't like about Le Gelase:
Only two tables were taken when we perused the menu. Because other restaurants were busy, and we quite fancied a galette for tea, we decided to give it a go. We all chose the ham, cheese and egg galette (which in other restaurants would be known as a complet, but not here!)Unusually it arrived folded in half. This was ok, however my egg wasn't cooked all the way through and there had been far too much pepper ground i... View all feedback.
Beautiful small restaurant, highly recommended! some 50 meters from the lively place gambetta, with a cozy terrace. Central and yet quiet. the galettes (a kind of pfann cake in variation with cheese, sink and other things, speciality from the north) are exceptional, the wee is good, the...prices measuring. also for hot days beautiful in tables. and a friendly service. I'm coming back.

We were not disappointed on this revisit to le Gelase. The quality of food and the service were as good as we remembered. Well worth a visit.
The restaurant is intimate in size and atmosphere and had a very laid back atmosphere both times we visited with the owner both serving and cooking. The high vaulted ceiling, candles and quirky French music all provided a pleasant ambience. In addition to the usual...crepes (ham, cheese, ham and cheese, complete) Le Gelase provides a number of gourmet crepes. Probably more expensive than most other creperies locally but definitely more generous in terms of filling and flavour. Forestiere, Normande, Gourmande all packed full of flavour! We ate twice in one week and on both occasions the bill was around 55-60 Euros for two mains, two puddings, wine (or cider) and coffees. Well worth a visit!!
We had passed this restaurant on several occasions during the day but it was always full we decided to try it for dinner. It is advertised as a Normandy restaurant and we were curious to know what the food would be like. It turned...out that the specialities were crepes (pancakes) They were much better and more imaginatively prepared than this may sound. It is good value. Including two courses, wine and coffee the bill came to 51 euros. The outside space is a bit cramped but service was good.
