Urban Picnic would easily be in the top 5 of vegan/vegetarian establishments if it were located in Sofia, and it personally would be one of my favorites. In addition to their daily menu, they also offer smoothies, desserts, and vegan chocolates for sale. The restaurant is run by a friendly, detail-oriented young man and his friend who prioritize recycling packaging. I highly recommend Urban Picnic and hope it remains open for many years to come, possibly expanding to other cities. This review has been updated from a previous one dated July 17, 2017.

The only vegan option in the city, but it is a good one!
This charming little restaurant serves delicious, high-quality vegan food and is filled with friendly and hardworking staff. We enjoy visiting this place to meet people from all over the world and Bulgaria, and to simply hang out. It uplifts us in an environment where survival is the norm, making us feel alive and hopeful once again. It has become a must-visit for us.
In June 2019, there has been a change in management at Urban Picnic that may unfortunately lead to its closure. This cozy vegan café has brought a taste of Berlin, Amsterdam, or London to the small town of Petrich, near the Greek border. It is not only the sole vegan option in Petrich, but also in the southwestern part of the country. If you are traveling from Sofia to Greece, there is no other place along the way that offers vegan burgers, basmati rice, homemade hummus, and more. In fact, Urban Picnic appears to be the only vegan establishment between Sofia and Thessaloniki. If located in Sofia, it would undoubtedly be one of the top 5 vegan/vegetarian restaurants, and personally my favorite. In addition to their daily menu, they serve smoothies, sweets, and vegan chocolates. The café is run by a friendly young couple who pay attention to the smallest details, including recycling packaging. I highly recommend Urban Picnic and hope it remains open for many years, possibly expanding to other cities. (Review updated from previous post on July 17, 2017)
