I visit regularly and the quality of the food is always of a good standard. Not sure if it is because the offers have changed (again) recently, but the cafe seems less busy these days. Still concerned at the level of recycling at Waitrose. Till receipt are offered and if refused are not recycled. Despite assurances that they are shredded and recycled, no-one at any of the cafes I have visited are aware of this and th... View all feedback.
What YorksUKYorksUK doesn't like about Waitrose:
A little disappointed with Waitrose today the lemon slice was very dry. I was in a rush for a train so didn’t have time to complain but certainly not the standard I would expect. Coffee was very good though. View all feedback.
I visiy the city centre area on a regular basis and have started using the café over the last few weeks. I have been a vegetarian for around 38 years so I tried the vegetarian set options. Eggs Florentine, poached Eggs as savoury options and Pancakes as a sweet option. I was very impressed with all three meals. The Florentine was as I expected, well presented and tasty. The poached eggs accompaniments were a pleasant surprise hummus, avocado, vine tomatoes and rocket. The flavours complimented each other delicious. Baby vine tomatoes has been a new experience for me with a breakfast and definitely a plus point. The pancakes made a pleasant change and were tasty and well presented. I usually drink Earl Grey tea with fresh lemon or a flat white coffee. I usually go at about 9am so the café is not full, hence excellent service by helpful staff. A pleasant, clean and bright café. My only complaint is that you do not have the café menu on your website. Thank you.
I had a tea in the lovely café here while waiting for my boyfriend to get in to the train station. Aaisha who served me was very polite and professional. After paying for my tea I decided to buy two pastries to takeaway and Aaisha gave me one for free as an ‘on us’ gesture how kind. It made my day, thank you!
Waitrose excels at creating a worthwhile shopping experience. Next to Peterborough station it is well placed to enhance arrival/departure experience. And depends on mainstay of regular shoppers choosing to shop at Waitrose. The staff are exceptionally helpful. Merchandise is second to none. The restaurant is a comfortable place to take a break. As a 'MY Waitrose ' card holder I feel valued. Therefore I can select my shopping in a comfortable environment and also enjoy one of the best coffees on offer in Peterborough. Then go directly to the Queensgate bus station with my free Guardian newspaper (that gets recycled). There is an option to choose the Telegraph (for free) and 2 hours free car parking.Thank you to the management and staff on behalf of all who visit Waitrose.
Always a popular cafe for me to meet friends, primarily because of great parking and early availability. Generally clean tables with plenty of choice of sitting, nice to be outside when the weather permits.Staff often take a while prepping drinks if they're on their own and a queue can build up quickly at busy times.
I was third in the queue at 14.35 (not at the peak of a lunchtime rush) and the two people in front of me ordered and paid for their drinks and food (chicken curry and a soup) and were then told there would be a 20 to 30 minute wait, even for the bowl of soup. As they were in a hurry they decided to cancel and get a refund. When my turn came, although I was looking forward to having Welsh Rarebit I was also told there would be a wait so decided to have a coffee and a cake. When I sat down there were ten other people in the cafe so the wait was inexcusable. I watched those serving. Normally, in restaurants, waiters are running around like blue tailed flies, but here if the three I saw had gone any slower they would have been walking backwards. After 20 minutes they came out with the cancelled food (the curry and the soup) as the cancelled order had not been passed on to the kitchen. It was offered to people free but this was not taken up and taken back to the kitchen, presumably to be thrown away. So much for Waitrose 's green credentials. I will not be visiting again, especially on a Saturday, as the cafe is obviously staffed by school kids who are under no adult supervision. If Waitrose want to benefit from being next door to a major train station, they need to realise that some of their customers might be time limited when calling in for something to eat. With regard to the green credentials, I have given up trying to get receipts recycled. I have been told by Head Office that they are shredded and recycled but when I ever mention this to staff I get the response that 's news to me.
