Chipotle Mexican Grill - Petaluma
Chipotle Mexican Grill
Description
Chipotle’s reputation for quality and taste seems to vary significantly among its locations. While many patrons have enjoyed fresh, flavorful meals—particularly the vegetarian burritos and vegan options—others have encountered disappointing experiences marked by small portions, unclean tables, and stale ingredients. Despite some positive remarks about affordability and service, several diners have questioned the overall consistency of food quality, prompting recommendations to visit other nearby locations for a better experience. Ultimately, Chipotle remains a popular choice for quick Mexican fare, but certain locations might leave you wanting more.

We have dined at Chipotle on several occasions across various locations, and they have consistently upheld their impressive food quality. I typically opt for either a burrito or a salad, but I sometimes enjoy trying the plant-based protein. Combining half pinto beans and half black beans provides a larger serving.
We were picking up our orders, but unfortunately, we were 15 minutes late due to traffic. It felt like our food had been sitting out far longer than that, leading to a disappointing experience for all three of us. My sofritas burrito looked soggy and was leaking juice when I unwrapped it. I ended up using three napkins to keep it from spilling on me. To make matters worse, the burrito was cold from the inside to the outside of the foil. The brown rice was hard and almost crunchy, as if it hadn't been cooked long enough. I usually enjoy getting the first bite with the sour cream, but there was none in my first or last bites—what a letdown, since it adds a nice flavor! The steak burrito bowls fared a bit better, but still fell short of being satisfying. As others have mentioned in their reviews, the portions didn’t even fill the bowls properly. If you were to pour the bowl's contents into a tortilla, it would barely make a small burrito. We ordered a tortilla on the side, but it was tough and hard to separate, as if it were old. The sour cream had a strange taste, and there was just no warmth to any of our meals. After a day at the beach, we were all looking forward to a delicious meal from Chipotle, based on our previous experiences at other locations. Sadly, we were all left disappointed. Ironically, we had spun a wheel to decide between three restaurants, but after two rounds, six spins, and best out of three, we ended up choosing Chipotle ourselves after it didn't get selected. In hindsight, we should have gone with the choices from the wheel.
Three times in a row thatbi have gone and they were out of something. One time cheese which meant we had to leave. Tonight no chips, lettuce or mild salsa. Not sure why they are so bad at ordering at this location. And with the price already being outrageously high its just not worth going just to have them out of things every time.
Definitely the best Chipotle I've ever been to. Has a nicer seating area than most locations and always seems clean.Vegetarian options: Sofritas, Chipote's plant-based meat, is great in burritos and bowls.Dietary restrictions: Easy to eat dairy free
