Such a lovely place, the woman was wonderful. The food was just what we needed at 500pm/1700hrs when all was closed. We won't need dinner tonight!

If you want to try some local hospitality and colour, this little bar/ cafe is worth visiting. Off the beaten track, but not hard to find, this is great little locals hangout perfect for lunch or a few cold ones also has wine by the glass. Host Stephan was most helpful with my bad Italian and made our visit most enjoyable. Totally recommend a visit to this cafe if you like a little nostalgia circa 1950's with old b&w photos and good honest local food and wine.

My wife and I happened upon this place in a small alley near our hotel in Perugia. We were looking for a place to buy a bottle of wine to take back to the room, but we noticed something different about the crowd in here: we seemed to be the only tourists. The owner was warm, welcoming and super funny. We ordered a couple of glasses from their very broad selection, then a couple more, and finally our bottle to go. Despite her limited English and our more limited Italian, we somehow had great conversation with the owner. We tried to go back the next night, but it was packed to the gills again, seemingly all locals. Caffe Bonazzi really embodied the warmth and spirit that we loved about Perugia, and Italy in general the sort of bar you just feel very lucky to have wandered into.

This is the archetypical neighbourhood Umbrian caffé. Just down the steps next to the Banca d´Italia from the Piazza d´Italia, this corner caffé epitomises the daily neighbourhood experience. They have quite a taste for good local wines at reasonable cost, and there are always typical Umbrian food specialties on hand. Also some great Scotches. You will come away feeling you´ve known the proprietors, Teresa and Stefano, forever; and you will have had a taste of real everyday life in this representative little corner of Perugia. Buy your international newspaper next door, go in and hang out for a while. Enjoy!

When it's too cold to sit out, this is a lovely place to enjoy a drink and light snack in the centre of Perugia. We ordered a platter of cheeses to accompany our drinks and it was delicious. Great selection of wines and friendly service. There's a great buzz in the evenings.
