Middle of nowhere, stuck in time kind of diner to stop and break a long journey. Roadway American diner vibes, dated but with old charm. Sadly it's quite limited with its range, do not expect croissants or nice pain au chocolat.. it's just basic rolls and some sweet bakes. Good coffee though! View all feedback.
What Brandylady doesn't like about The Horn:
Mixed bag here . Soup tasted lovely , but not hot enough. The home bakes were lovely .,A very basic “cafe “ menu some of which dishes very heavy and fatty .from looking around, some meals looked better than others. View all feedback.
This is a great place to have your breakfast or a bacon roll. There’s nothing fancy or pretentious about the Horn , which makes it just perfect. I’ll definitely be back and would be worth a visit if you’re hungry
Used to stop here for the great bacon rolls. Previous stop realised that they had changed the bacon, not so streaky and fattier so decided to ask for poached eggs on brown toast. Waited for some time and eventually served at the table with brown bread resembling cardboard and 2 hard boiled , but supposedly poached eggs! Spoke to a young lady who was table serving and asked who would have carried out the “poaching ” which she admitted being responsible. It was pointed out to her that poached eggs should not be hard boiled and that we were very disappointed. She offered to get the manager to come and see us. Few minutes later a young man came through and immediately accused us of being nasty to the lady. He was advised that we were perfectly within our rights to point out the failing and in no way had we been nasty. At this point the lady came over, had obviously been crying, and was asked by us if we had been nasty to which she replied no and apologised. The young man was advised that if he wished to speak to his customers he should get the facts straight before making such accusations. He was also asked where the manager was and replied that he was busy in the kitchen so wasn’t coming out to speak to us. The restaurant at this time was almost empty. It was pointed out that this was a terrible lack of appreciation to his customers and we left. It was also observed that on several occasions the young lads that were carrying through plates with buns there on were holding the buns on the plate with their fingers, total lack of hygiene. Won’t be back!
This has always been a place we'd stop at for a bacon roll, when on our travels. They used to do the most amazing bacon rolls. However, the last couple of times we have been the rolls have been inedible. They are not soft and fall to bits when trying to eat them and the bacon inside was fatty and undercooked. We thought the first time was maybe just an off day, so gave them another chance. After this visit, they certainly won't be getting another one.

Stopped on way home to Aberdeen after spending the previous night in Edinburgh visiting the Christmas Market. We wish we hadn’t. Myself my partner both had bacon rolls, the girl serving said we might have to wait as she was away to make a fresh batch of bacon, we asked if it could be crispy, we shouldn’t have, it was the grossest bacon I’ve ever tasted in my life. Within the first 3 bites I had the hickups as the bacon was thick and dry but greasy. I think they either deep fat fry it or it was in an air fryer and way over cooked. That wasn’t the worst part, the worst thing was the dirt EVERYWHERE! Chairs, tables, the floor, window ledges, fire safety door, toilets it was all horrendous, I honestly don’t know how it hasn't been shut down, it broke so many health and hygiene regulations, I don’t recommend it at all.
