What Omar Morales doesn't like about El Shaday:
Another local Google reviewer said it all, his name is Jonathan Arriaga and I agree with his El Shaday review. Specifically to me, the bean and cheese pupusas was salty, the chicharron and cheese pupusa was not to chicharroni (don't expect crunchy chicharron, this is a different use of fried pork) Unfortunately, I will not be doing a revisit. I think $2 for a pupusa in 2023 is a decent price though. That is all. View all feedback.
First and foremost, the pupusas at El Shaday are absolutely outstanding. The flavors are rich and authentic, and the texture is perfect. Each bite offers a delightful contrast of a crispy exterior and a warm, savory filling. I sampled a variety of fillings, including cheese, loroco, and revuelta, and each one was delicious. It's clear that the chefs at El Shaday take immense pride in their work, paying attention to the smallest details to ensure an exceptional culinary experience. Even more gratifying is the fact that my girlfriend, who is Salvadoran, wholeheartedly approves of this place. Having grown up with Salvadoran cuisine, she has a keen eye for authenticity in dishes, and El Shaday passed her test with flying colors. This speaks volumes about the restaurant's dedication to preserving the true flavors of Salvadoran cooking. Although El Shaday is a bit of a drive for me, I gladly make the half-hour journey to pick up an order regularly. The quality of the food and the warm, friendly service make it all worth it.
The service is consistently excellent, the food is outstanding, and the prices are very fair.
It's a fantastic restaurant! They did miss one tamal from my order—I ordered three but only received two. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience.
This restaurant provides a decent takeout option for breakfast, with prices ranging from $20 to $30 per person. The food is satisfying and earned a rating of 3 out of 5, which means it was enjoyable but not particularly remarkable. The service also received a rating of 3, indicating an average experience without any notable highlights. The atmosphere was similarly rated at 3; it was neither extraordinary nor unpleasant. If you're interested in trying something specific, the Pupusas Salvadoreñas and Pupusa Locay Loroco come highly recommended.
The baleada was large and absolutely delicious! However, the horchata was really disappointing. It was very watered down, and the cinnamon wasn't mixed in at all. I would give it a 0 out of 10.
