Firstly the biergarten chairs are terribly uncomfortable so lucky there were some chair cushions available. I ordered the huge salad plate which consisted out of veggies and some turkey on the side and 2 slices of brown bread. Firstly the turkey was tough, a few pieces I had to cut away as it wasn't a good quality meat. All in all the salad was Okay. Nothing great and also not terrible tasting. I found the waitress a little bit forward trying to have a conversation with me while I was eating, this is an absolute No Go especially if you don't know the person and also, we were not served any cutlery for our table. My friend had to get up and fetch pepper/salt and cutlery at a nearby table as the waitress was nowhere to be seen.

While having lunch, several bike riders and walkers went by along the River Trail and a Danube Cruise boat floated past. We were there May 2017 visiting my husband's grandfather's birthplace. Grandfather Joseph Weichmann's family owned the Weichmann Muhle and Farm in the early 1900's. Craig's grandfather, brothers and one sister grew up there. His Grandfather Joseph Weichmann apprenticed as a Cooper. Before WWII, his Grandfather and brothers, not the sister emigrated to New Jersey USA. We plan to visit again and will have lunch at the Gasthaus Zur Walba.

Also easily reached on hiking trails from the idyllic village of Matting 3 km up the river with it's cosy swimming beach...

They have... read more This gasthaus is great on a sunny afternoon when you can sit outside and watch the boats go by on the Donau (Danube) and bicyclists in the bike path. They have a nice playground for kids. The service is very good and the food is typical Bavarian. My family and I have been there several times and will return again in the summer. The only downside is that it is not readily accessible except by bike or car (or taxi, but it is well outside of the city).

The food was then allowed to wait an hour, though there was only a large salad plate, which lasts so long? Other guests like us, too. That was the first and last time! We will not recommend this inn!
