Planet Bar has emerged as a lively hub in Edinburgh, offering a vibrant atmosphere for both locals and visitors. With reasonably priced drinks and a welcoming environment, it has solidified its place as a popular starting point for nights out. Patrons have enjoyed its friendly staff, engaging pub quizzes, and memorable music, creating a sense of community. However, experiences vary, with some noting issues of cliquishness and unwelcoming attitudes towards certain customers. Despite this, many leave with fond memories, eager to return for a fun night out in a safe space.

Visits for work and also with some mates on a visit to Edinburgh. I'm a London Lad (formerly budapest) long time London... can't believe I went to this place and felt at home. I loved the friendly welcome from the staff. How can I forget that? I'll never get them my favorite soft drink on tap.... this obviously goes with vodka and sometimes you can give wings!!! Miles before London. Thanks and thank you xxxx

Absolutely love Planet Bar Great staff , lovely atmosphere. A nice safe environment. Planet is great for a nice quiet drink during the day and also for a right good night out in te evening. Would highly recommend for anyone when in Edinburgh

If you’re a person of colour I do not advise coming here. They’ve clearly got an issue with non-white people, only want people of their own in there. Very rude, and owner is clearly racist. You’ll realise this as soon as you step foot. Avoid at all costs!

It was a blur. I went in rather calm and clinical, I had a drink, next thing I know I 'm laughing til I 'm crying, being so rubbish at the pub quiz (you can tell it 's a gay bar as every question was about musicals stop press! , then I 'm being told by the quiz master to fit my fist in my mouth and everyone cheers and I 'm so happy; the drinks are cheap and no one 's trying it on with you because you 're a straight girl. The experience I had in there was the reason I 'm glad I live in Edinburgh 's pink triangle

There is one phrase which sums up why I go to Planet Out- Fanta Orange on tap. Anyone who has not been introduced to the joy that is a double vodka with fanta orange needs to get themselves here asap and taste the delights. Planet has some other things going for it, as it's the only bar in the gay district of Edinburgh that seems to be aimed at women/have a largely female clientele, which is good and bad- good because it's nice to have somewhere to see lesbians, and bad because then you see the lesbians and remember why you don't like going out on the scene. Oh but the fanta orange Anyway, whenever I've been recently the music is stupidly loud, and I even had an old lady moment and asked the DJ to turn the music down as nobody could hear themselves think but I was turned away. That makes one star less for Planet! The staff are on the whole really lovely and friendly, and it gets pretty busy so there's a good atmosphere. It's just so Gay. As in stereotypical, we're here, we're queer, get used to it gay. I'd just love to see a good gay bar/club in Edinburgh. As it is this is probably the best on offer.
