Great place! Beautiful decor, fabulous food and perfect service. We can't wait to return
We went there our first night in Penalva do Castelo and we liked it so much that we went back for breakfast and dinner the next day. Both Paulos were so pleasant and helpful. The cook is also very nice and makes excellent tapas and soups. The house wine is a regional wine which we really liked considering the price. We bought 2 cases to bring home with us. It was hard to choose from the large selection of desserts. The mousse with passion fruit was delicious! It would be hard to beat the simple buttered toast with homemade jams for breakfast, and the very good coffee. I wish this restaurant were in my home town. I would be going very often! Thank you for the happy experience. We will not forget it!
First time in Portugal and I was recommended this restaurant that only opened the end of last year. Started with delicious soup and chicken wings. The presentation of the dishes were breathtaking and the main dishes (more of tapas or appetizers) were refreshing and yummy! The prices are affordable and I would definitely recommend!
The atmosphere was great. Friendly servers great food and wine selection. Would highly suggest for couples and families.
Having had a poor experience in our hotel restaurant and night before, and having read some of the reviews of Recordo we decided to give it try for dinner and loved it. It is a small, modern establishment with the look of a local cafe about it. It does not go in for the more formal meals, but instead offers tapas type dishes, sandwiches etc. We did not really understand the menu so put ourselves in the hands of the waiter who was on of the co owners. At his suggestion we started with a wonderful homemade soup, followed by a tabua which was akin to an Italian antipasta a slate tile with local ham, sausage, and big hunks of wonderful local cheese. This was followed by a hamburger which was just a taste sensation. There is a long wine list, with prices going up to €30 a bottle, but we took the waiters suggestion of a bottle of the house red produced in the village for €5(!!! which was very drinkable. The atmosphere in the place was great, and all the food was wonderful. Our total bill, including drinks and coffee came to less than €30 for the 2 of us. We left feeling, full and happy having had a great evening. We were so happy we went back the next evening for just something light to eat which was just as good. We understand the place has not been open very long. We wish the guys running it every success they deserve it. Highly recommended.
