Approximately 40km from central Porto one finds Esquilo restaurant in Penafiel.A modern delightful restaurant offering a comprehensive, modern and exciting a la carte menu with daily chef special recommendations in addition. Beautiful food presentations throughout our lunchtime visit comprised couvert, starters, mains and desserts. Delicious, high quality and well cooked food at all levels with friendly and efficient service. An extensive excellent wine list complimented the food offerings. Delicious Portuguese coffee finalised the meal.In summary great, delicious food, efficiently served in a nice modern chique surrounding at reasonable prices. Definitely one for the record to revisit next time in Porto.

We have a house a few miles away we found this restaurant through trip adviser. We didn't know where it was but we managed to find it it was quite but it was good to have service just for us only. Food was 5* no faults from starters to desert it was great. I will recommend my family that live near by to pop in and have a try I will be back next time I am on holiday.
We found this great restaurant through Trip Advisor. It was super to find a restaurant of this standard outside of Porto. It is exactly what is needed in the area!. It is modern, clean, bright and welcoming place which is well equipped. The crockery is AMAZING ! More important however is the food. The presentation was INCREDIBLE and extremely INNOVATIVE. Congratulations to the Chef ! Moreover, the food was well cooked and full of flavour.We have a house for tourism and will be recommending this great place.EXCELLENT SERVICE !We would like to mention 2 points:1. The helpings are too big, which can be off putting.2. The French fried potatoes were cold.
