The Hoyo del Pelempito is a great depression of flat background located in the Sierra de Bahoruco with a perimeter of 8km2 and a depth of about 700 meters. A range of autonomous microclimate, a varied and abundant flora and fauna, with the presence of endemic species and some in danger. The route to arrive is a little long and the last stretch is complicated due to the lack of asphalt so I do not recommend small vehicles or with little force. Eyes with iguanas and driving speed, as these naughty animals sometimes make surprise appearances in the center of the road and can give a big scare to the driver, causing abrupt braking and even accidents. When you arrive, you must leave the vehicle and walk for a few minutes for a terrain that is NOT prepared for people with mobility disabilities of any kind. After the climb you will reach a visitor center where you will find information signs about this natural accident, bathrooms and a picnic space. Recommendation: do not go in fragile sandals because it will cost you the promotion. Note that there they don't sell drinks or food, so you should take what you want to consume and, as the temperature varies enough, I suggest you include a coat so you don't remember a cold.
Excellent view when you arrive, the road is very bad, I recommend going on TODO vehicles (jeepetas 4x4), is a trip to perform it in a group of more than 8 people, at the entrance there is a gazebo where people can sit and share.
The temperature was in 20 degrees, a cold constant breeze, the place is full of pines and lush vegetation
The view is spectacular; but it is a journey to see it once.
Very nice place, very fresh air. Too bad it looks abandoned.
