View all feedback.
During our recent visit to Patzcuaro we asked a owner of one of our favorite restaurants where you eat in Patzcuaro if you don't work? Among other things, he recommended Restaurante Camino Real. He's been telling us for years, he usually eats there once a week. That was certainly a good enough recommendation for us. He warned us not to expect any imagination. Finally, he warned, it's next to an Oxxo at a Pemex station. What we have experienced, however, has delighted us. We went there for lunch on a weekday and sat on an outside table with enough vegetation blocking any gas pump view. We both had their $99. MX 3 course meal. The elections were great. You could eat there for many weeks and never duplicate the combination of choices. The food was authentic and delicious. The service was friendly and the place was clean. Our best description is that it is a good Mexican diner. And from the northeastern USA, we know Diners! Look at it. They won't be disappointed.
This restaurant has been open 18 years ago before I moved to Pátzcuaro. It's on the outskirts of the city how you get from Morelia. It is very popular with tourists, and with good reason. But the locals also go there, like me. Oddly, it shares property with a Pemex station, but don't let it go. The food is above average, and the service is top-class. I live on foot from there and eat there about once a week. Try it. You'll be glad you did it.
Camino Real is here forever. You have to park in front of a gas station. An inconvenient place could not exist. The food is fabulous. Service is fast. The selection is huge. The Bollios are so good I often can't finish my meal. Surprise yourself.
I find it amazing that there are only 3 other reviews for this extremely popular Restaurant at the Gasoline Station , as we call it. Yes it is between a Pemex and an Oxxo. A four course meal is 80 pesos! The portions are generous, the service is efficient, there are lines out the door on the weekend after 2:00. The place is big! We thought over a 100 could be served in the main room. Plus seats outside and a troje behind now. A troje is a traditional wooden building that is made without nails. Mexican families come here for comiida, the big afternoon meal. The Tarascan soup is a delicious region specialty not o be missed. After the soup course is a small plate like corundas, the regional tamal. Then a main course with 30 choices. Oh, and a small dessert. Try it, you will like it! I cannot believe I never reviewed this place before, or if all the reviews have somehow disappeared.
Possibly the best restaurant in a gas station anywhere. Very inexpensive comida served in a bright, friendly cafe.
