What Sam S dislikes about Vue:
**Food for Thought: Clean Your Cinemas!**
Longwell Green, Bristol
I recently visited the Vue cinema in Longwell Green and was quite disappointed with my experience. The VIP seats had sticky cup holders due to spilled drinks, and there were sweets and chocolate stuck to the seats. Considering the hygiene concerns after COVID, this was particularly unsettling.
To make matters worse, the customer service was unhelpful. I was left waiting in line with my crying 7-year-old to address my complaints, which added to the frustration. If the cinemas were cleaner, maybe more people would want to come and enjoy a movie there.

Vue Cinema is a large establishment located at the Venue in Cribbs Causeway, making it a perfect complement to the adjoining bowling alley and gaming area. The Venue consistently delivers, showcasing the latest movie releases and offering a variety of both large and small screening rooms. The seating is incredibly comfortable as well! However, there’s something that feels a bit off about the cinema. It might be the somewhat dull atmosphere or possibly the layout—there’s just an element that doesn’t seem quite right. I’ll need to think about that!
I'm not sure if this is the correct listing since there appear to be two for Vue, but I've chosen the one with the most recent review. We're referring to the Vue cinema at Cribbs Causeway, which used to be a Warner Village cinema a few years back. Unfortunately, it has not aged well, although it does have some modern features like touchscreen ticket machines. Some of the seats in the auditoriums are quite worn, a bit smelly, and not as comfortable as those in other cinemas. That said, you can still catch films here that might only be shown at places like the Watershed, so it's nice that the manager caters to a variety of audiences. There is also ample parking available, along with plenty of options for grabbing a bite to eat nearby.
This cinema is wonderful, and I really enjoy visiting it. The drinks are excellent, and my girlfriend and I like to share a large frozen Fanta.
The snack area was deserted, and after spending several minutes searching for popcorn prices with no luck, I reluctantly approached the counter to inquire. Unsurprisingly, the popcorn prices were outrageous, but what frustrated me most was Vue’s unwillingness to clearly display their prices. The only information available on the overhead signs was regarding their combo meals, similar to what you'd find at McDonald's. When I brought this up to the staff member who served me, he mentioned that he didn’t decide what was displayed. While that may be true, he could have conveyed my feedback or at least acted as if he hadn’t heard it a million times before. There were two sizes of popcorn to choose from, with only a 30p difference between them. It's hardly a choice when no one is likely to opt for the smaller size. The ticket prices were shocking compared to my local cinema, especially for a dad taking two young kids. When we entered, the cinema was nearly empty—I'd estimate it was only about 10% full. Why not offer discounted tickets for children during the day for select family films? Encouraging kids to visit the cinema could lead to future profits. Additionally, selling smaller snack portions for kids could help recoup some of the costs. Oh, and my seat was dirty. Even the VIP seats seemed average compared to other cinemas I've visited. I won’t be coming back if I have a choice, but I’m not giving up on going to the cinema altogether—there are cheaper and better options out there. Vue, it’s time to rethink your customer experience, because that’s what distinguishes the cinema experience from watching illegally downloaded films at home.
