Food was delicious and the service was excellent. They were following protocols. I like the fact that they had dividers between tables and feel they should stay up
It was st Patrick's day and nothing going on. How does a bar not have green beer. How do you not get mustard with corn beef that you have to ask for it. No band no dj . food was ok. Not my kind of place
Oar Restaurant offers a mixed dining experience. While some diners were impressed by the food quality, service, and ambiance, others were disappointed by portion size, wait times, and noise levels. The chef's skill shines through in dishes like shrimp avocado salad and short ribs, while seasonal specials like St. Patrick's day corn beef add to the appeal. The beautiful scenery and waterfront location in Suffolk County, New York, make it a popular choice for many. Despite issues with consistency and timing, Oar's dedicated staff, including friendly owner, and varied menu keep customers coming back.

I have visited the restaurant Oar multiple times and have always had a positive experience. However, yesterday when I went for my birthday dinner during their prime rib night, I received the smallest piece of prime rib I have ever seen. The appetizers we ordered were also not as good as they usually are. I'm starting to wonder if they have a new chef or something.
The service was fantastic, the food pretty good and the people great.
Our first time there, will not be our last. Our server was so pleasant and we never felt rushed
The restaurant has a good atmosphere and a variety of dishes. The service was good, but the food was slightly cold.
Great meal and service. Thanks Vanessa. Will return when back in the area.

I can't say enough! We had an event at the Oar last night and the they were on their A- game! Anything we needed, Donna was there in a snap. She had a solution for every speed bump I hit while setting up and a smile on her face the whole time. I've never been to their resteraunt or catering hall before and we took our chances. So glad we did! The scenery around the catering hall building wasn't great, but everything else was. I'm sure the resteraunt had a nice view, it's right in the water. We'll definitely be back for the resteraunt, and we highly recommend the catering hall
Came at 5:30pm on a Friday afternoon and was seated for an outside seat immediately. Coconut martini and rum punch was very good. Coconut martini could’ve used a little more liquor though. Mojito was not good at all, too much seltzer not enough mint or strawberry flavor. Octopus appetizer was good not rubbery at all. Grilled salmon was nice the noodles were cold but I didn’t complain because I feel like it went well with the salmon. Cod fish was good as well, mash potatoes tasted like it had a bit too much milk in it and lacked salt and pepper. I would come again.
Food was delicious. Staff are very friendly. The patio was beautiful
The food was decent, the service was great, but the music was too loud to have a conversation (they do tell you that there will be live music so that’s on me for choosing to eat there), there was legitimately a swarm of bees at the table next to me, and they charge you 3.25% if you use your credit card. I wouldn’t go back, but it isn’t a bad restaurant and seemed like a good place to have a drink if you were between 45-70 years old.
As always our lunch at The Oar was fantastic! As a Virginian visiting LI, a trip to LI isint complete without having at least one Long Island Iced Tea and the one at The Oar always hits right. For appetizers, the baked clams and fried calamari was absolutely delicious. Each one of our seafood entrees were fresh and full of flavor. And the service is always excellent. A perfect waterfront restaurant for drinks and seafood!

I won't be returning to this restaurant. My waitress, Cindy, was fantastic—she really did a great job. However, when I received my baked salmon, it was still raw. By the time I got it back, everyone at the table had already finished their meals, and I had lost my appetite. They didn't even offer to give me a plate to take home or apologize for the kitchen's mistake. The manager also failed to come by and address the issue. I’m giving them one star, and that's purely because my waitress was so pleasant and worked hard for everyone else.
I've dined there numerous times and have encountered friendly, attractive, and exceptional waitstaff, including both servers and hostesses. Overall, I would rate it: Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5.
This is an amazing restaurant! The sour brine and fish were delightful, and they have the best oar chips I've ever tasted! Food: 5 stars, Service: 5 stars, Atmosphere: 5 stars.
Ate there last night. Had the Octoberfest veal snitzel that came with potato pancakes. I took my leftovers home and was having potato pancake for breakfast. I bit into it and found 2 long blond hairs encased in it. Wanted to vomit. Loved this place but not sure I can get past this to go back. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
Great service, delicious lunch, and enjoyable view. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

This is a fantastic place to check out if you're considering it. You can relax indoors or outdoors, and there's usually a nice crowd.
Delicious food and excellent service, with the added bonus of dining outdoors on the dock – it was truly unforgettable. While it's not the most budget-friendly option, it's definitely worth treating yourself!
