However, yesterday when I went for my birthday dinner during their prime rib night, I received the smallest piece of prime rib I have ever seen. The appetizers we ordered were also not as good as they usually are. I'm starting to wonder if they have a new chef or something.

We had an event at the Oar last night and the they were on their A- game! Anything we needed, Donna was there in a snap. She had a solution for every speed bump I hit while setting up and a smile on her face the whole time. I've never been to their resteraunt or catering hall before and we took our chances. So glad we did! The scenery around the catering hall building wasn't great, but everything else was. I'm sure the resteraunt had a nice view, it's right in the water. We'll definitely be back for the resteraunt, and we highly recommend the catering hall

Coconut martini could’ve used a little more liquor though. Mojito was not good at all, too much seltzer not enough mint or strawberry flavor. Octopus appetizer was good not rubbery at all. Grilled salmon was nice the noodles were cold but I didn’t complain because I feel like it went well with the salmon. Cod fish was good as well, mash potatoes tasted like it had a bit too much milk in it and lacked salt and pepper. I would come again.

I wouldn’t go back, but it isn’t a bad restaurant and seemed like a good place to have a drink if you were between 45-70 years old.

As a Virginian visiting LI, a trip to LI isint complete without having at least one Long Island Iced Tea and the one at The Oar always hits right. For appetizers, the baked clams and fried calamari was absolutely delicious. Each one of our seafood entrees were fresh and full of flavor. And the service is always excellent. A perfect waterfront restaurant for drinks and seafood!

However, when I received my baked salmon, it was still raw. By the time I got it back, everyone at the table had already finished their meals, and I had lost my appetite. They didn't even offer to give me a plate to take home or apologize for the kitchen's mistake. The manager also failed to come by and address the issue. I’m giving them one star, and that's purely because my waitress was so pleasant and worked hard for everyone else.
