The entrance to the restaurant is rather understated, featuring a lighting design that creates a dotted effect. The color scheme primarily consists of grey tones with earthy touches, highlighted by a few vibrant accents on the walls. These design elements ultimately serve to highlight the food, which, of course, is the main focus, right? The dishes are both delightfully surprising and comfortably familiar. The wine pairings are expertly chosen and served with genuine warmth. If you ever have the opportunity to dine here, don’t hesitate to say yes.
I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking Michelin-star quality food (think The French Laundry in Napa) at a more affordable price. The outdoor dining area has a rustic charm, but the food is truly world-class. The location is a trendy, modern eatery situated in an industrial park that's somewhat off the beaten path. Originally designed to feature a cozy indoor setting with twelve barstools at a long counter facing an open kitchen, it allowed guests to watch as three young chef-servers prepared meals in front of them. However, due to the pandemic, the setup has changed. Now, there are four tables with bar stools that accommodate eight diners outside in a narrow driveway between two industrial buildings. While the setting is rustic, it’s also very safe from COVID-19. This makes it a great option for those who are cautious or at risk but still want to enjoy a nine-course gourmet experience. The menu changes frequently based on what is fresh and in season, with one or two new dishes introduced daily. Within a week, the entire menu has typically shifted. The beauty here is that there is no overwhelming choice – I loved the fixed menu with wine pairings which alleviated any dining stress. Just relax, and you’ll find yourself enjoying dishes you might not have chosen otherwise or even realized existed. The sommelier curates wines that might be unfamiliar to you, featuring some from local vineyards and others from Europe. Each wine complements its respective dish beautifully, making for a truly remarkable culinary experience. During my visit, I enjoyed a six-dish menu (with wine pairings noted in parentheses) that felt more like nine courses: 1. Salmon belly with dill and sorrel (paired with Mittnacht Cremant Alsace), smoked eggplant, summer squash, and basil, and beet with plum vinegar and shiso. 2. Tomato, melon, cucumber, and goat cheese (paired with Sauvignon Blanc). 3. Chicken liver pâté, nectarine, and grilled cornbread (paired with a white blend). 4. Roasted salmon with maitake mushrooms and creamed corn (paired with Barbera d'Alba Superiore Brezza). 5. Dry-aged pork loin (35 days) with shishito peppers and peach polenta (paired with Giornata Aglianico). 6. A frozen watermelon dessert over white custard (paired with Meulenhof Riesling Spatlese) featuring caramelized white chocolate, pistachio, and plum candy cap. Wow! Also, the dishware is quite unique, created by a local artist – it's a delightful touch. Be sure to check out the photos of each dish.
