What a disappointing experience! We were seated at a table with two dirty glasses of water that we had to move ourselves. Our server quickly placed two small salmon appetizers in front of us without any explanation, then rushed off. To start, we ordered stuffed squid and escargot. The squid was rubbery, and while the escargot had good flavor, the sauce was far too watery. For our main courses, we chose a mixed seafood plate and paella. Both were very lackluster and bland, and the paella lacked any crispness. Given the poor food and service, I definitely won’t be coming back.
Paso Terra is a charming and intimate restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience. The thoughtful details throughout made my visit truly unforgettable. The chef's culinary creations not only tasted amazing but were also visually stunning, as shown in the photos. His artistic talent extends to his paintings, which adorn the walls and bring vibrant colors to the space. If you're looking for a memorable culinary experience in Paso Robles, this place is a must-visit!
I will never return to this restaurant. We arrived around 8:10 PM, and as we walked in, a waitress was clearing a table and mentioned that we had just missed the dinner rush before heading into the kitchen. The kitchen door stayed open, and another woman came out, giving us a smug look. Instead of greeting us, she looked us up and down and abruptly informed us that the kitchen was closed. My son expressed his disappointment, and she snapped at him, responding with a snarky comment. It appeared that several tables had just been seated, so it seemed we weren't considered the right kind of customers. If she had been polite, I wouldn’t have felt compelled to write this review, but I have never experienced such poor treatment. It's unfortunate because the three of us ended up at a different restaurant, where we spent over $250, plus a generous tip for our waitress and bartender. After reading several other reviews, it’s clear that we are not the only ones who felt unwelcome. We’re glad we took our business elsewhere.
The food at this restaurant is simply outstanding, showcasing remarkable attention to detail. Everything is prepared from scratch and is incredibly fresh. The customer service is exceptional, with a personalized touch for each guest. Both the indoor and outdoor ambiance are lovely. Even the busy chef made an effort to stop by each table and engage with us. Trained in French cuisine, he creates truly amazing dishes. I will definitely come back whenever I'm in the area! Highly recommended!
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food and service were outstanding, making my father's 70th birthday celebration unforgettable. We enjoyed dinner there, with the cost per person being approximately $30–50. I would give the food, service, and atmosphere a perfect 5-star rating. I highly recommend trying the Monk Fish, Mixed Seafood Grill, and Diver Scallops sautéed with Vodka and Caviar Sauce.
