We were in LA for a few days to visit my daughter and stayed in Pasadena. We found Lovebirds as we drove early one morning looking for breakfast and coffee and ended up eating there twice. The food and service were excellent and we were pleasantly surprised by the very reasonable prices. I had the Chef’s Fried Egg Sandwich, which was fresh, filling and so, so good. What Berlin Maximoff doesn't like about Lovebirds Cafe Bakery:
This place has weird vibes. It's been in business for over a decade, but somehow looks like they just opened. The drink and condiments station looks like your uncle's pop up backyard BBQ. The service is okay. They get you what you order and that's kind of it. Everything is *fine* but honestly not worth it when there is a plethora of delicious and unique cafes and restaurants in Pasadena and the LA area. (Also the pastry case was pretty much empty when I got there).
Food is nothing special. The salsa that came with the breakfast burrito tasted like bottled Pace salsa. The music choice here is just weird. The decor and vibe of the place feels confused and gives airport cafe vibes. Will not be returning. Much better food elsewhere.

The food and service were excellent and we were pleasantly surprised by the very reasonable prices. I had the Chef’s Fried Egg Sandwich, which was fresh, filling and so, so good. Paired with a large cup of good house coffee, it set me up for the day. The second time, I had the eggs Benedict, where were also very, very good. There were a number of people dining inside during our visits and Lovebirds also seemed to be doing a brisk takeout trade.
This place is NOT kid friendly...and the workers are not interested in catering to their customers. I don 't believe they are well managed. The high chairs were caked with food and there is no kid menu. The table was dirty when we arrived and no one offered to clean it. The restrooms were out of order ; both of them. The music choice was very poor, with music playing that had explicit lyrics and curse words regularly. I asked for them to change the music and this didn 't happen. We had three chicken basil sandwiches, tomato soup, fries, and French toast. The French toast was crunchy, dry, and barely covered in any egg batter. The soup was warm. The sandwiches and fries were well made, though I could have used more flavor in the pesto. In summary, I will not be back and I do not recommend this place. Kid-friendliness: NOT kid friendly in any respect.
Place has gone downhill. I used to frequent this place a lot back in high school haven’t been back since. Was craving a sandwich we were near by, so we decided to stop in. Was not nearly as good as I remembered it. It could be that my standards have raised since I was in high school but it truly wasn’t good. Will not be going back.
