4.5. Real result I tried the frittata and icy mocha and both were quite solid. I thought the coffee was pretty weak because I didn't really taste the espresso, but maybe it was just a way out. This is the first frittata I had in this bakery and it was really light and fluffy, quite tasteful. I think I like the American omelet anyway! I think if I had a croissant or some other baked goods it would have been a clear five stars for me, so I will try the next round!.
What Clementine Watsica doesn't like about Europane Bakery Cafe:
Sadly this place feels like its slowly dying. At 9 in the morning it was almost empty and there was only 1 person working. The pastry case was mostly empty (remember when it was busy and bursting with pastry!? and the food we ordered was so bad that we threw it away. The latte was fine and the cold brew was terrible. We also had to wait 20 minutes even though we were the only people ordering. View all feedback.
Got the chocolate scone which was just the right consistency (nice and flakey) and not oily and the chocolate chips were good (would?ve been better if it was chunks). A+ The egg salad toast was humongous!!! I split one and still felt like they must?ve used 2-3eggs just on my half. But delicious!
Her egg salad cranberry walnut sandwich was earlier sooooo good I would try google her recipe years ago. Today I suddenly believed and came to find that it has become tasteless and dry and only really sad piece of overpriced stuff. The cranberry walnut bread does not seem to have any of the ingredients. My husband ordered the Mediterranean sandwich with sourdough, the same thing, really dry and tasteless. The given bread was not sour, only normal white bread. It seems they've changed property and I guess they haven't passed any real recipes.
Since the pandemic, Europane seems to have stopped making some of the baked goods they have made on the eastern side of Los Angeles. It's so disappointing. Although I have great sympathy for what the restaurants are struggling to only enjoy, now that they are open, one would hope that the first thing they would do is to restore what they have made such an outstanding bakery café in the first place. They did what is traditionally called Morning Buns, one of only two places east of L.A. they did. Lincoln was the only place where you could occasionally get a Morning Bun. But Lincoln didn't survive the pandemic. The only place where you can get this pleasure is when ALWAYS travels the west side. Europane still makes her famous egg salad, but somehow the breads they were famous cannot meet their old standards. I will continue to support Pasadenas's two Europane sites that separate themselves from Colorado. I love the place and will continue to be loyal. I just hope the owners understand that now that they are back in business, their customers hope for the same loyalty in return and bring back the baked goods that we first pulled back.
No more delicious. I had a sandwich and a pastry and tasted neither like bread or pastry on that day (I also did not finish) and SO expensive. I don't think they bake daily or it doesn't seem like that. Maybe they get their groove back, this place was so good.
Kind of a long line for a weekday morning, but some empty seats for chilling out in the cafe, awesome staff, delicious pastries. They make some of their signature pastries on the weekends only. Will be back.
